The folks that brought you pop-up underground festival Super 0 Season are baaaack! This time, they’re launching the first ever edition of Super 0 Openair this coming January 17th.
Taking over yet another unused, nondescript space – the former SIA Changi Sports Club, to be precise – this one-day multi-concept boutique festival is out to diversify the representation of art during the Singapore Art Week, which is happening 17-25 January 2015.
Inspired by international festivals like Coachella and Secret Garden, festival-goers can expect an extensive range of creative displays like up-and-coming Parisian photographer David Ledoux‘s debut solo show (aptly titled Tropical Uncanny) and Super 0 x Tokyobike – Art of Cycle, which sees five Tokyobikes being re-interpreted and designed by budding local artists and designers. Theatre fans, you’ll be glad to know that the awesome people at Pangdemonium will also be performing two interactive snippets from their upcoming play Circle Mirror Transformation.
If you’re like us and love your cocktails, definitely stop by the Alchemy Garden, which definitely takes cocktail appreciation to new heights. Helmed by Reyka Vodka and urban farming experts Edible Gardens, there’ll be a ‘live’ distillation set up at Super 0 Openair to produce herbal bitters and essential oils. Not only will you get to learn about the processes firsthand, you can even try flavouring your own drinks!
Music lovers, you’re never left out or forgotten when it comes to the Super 0 collective. On top of Curated Records setting up shop on festival grounds with their wide selection of popular and indie vinyl records, the music lineup features forward-thinking international acts such as The Field and Scharre, who are under Cologne-based electronic music record label, Kompakt.
Long time followers of New York DJ Tim Sweeney‘s Beats in Space radio show can catch the man himself spinning his mix of dance music while the first ladies of Berlin’s infamous Berghain club, Steffi & Virginia, will be delivering electronic, bass-heavy tracks at Super 0 Openair.
Also noteworthy is US DJ TOKiMONSTA, who will be headlining the inaugural Red Bull Music Academy stage – this institution has been cultivating these aural engineers for our listening pleasure for the last 15 years!
Super 0 Openair is happening 17 January 2015, from 2pm till late, at 24 Turnhouse Road, Singapore 507761. Tickets are priced at $65 and #supertrooper tickets (VIP) are priced at $90 – includes priority entry, dedicated bars, posh loos, and more – exclusive of the $3 booking fee. For more information and tickets, see Super 0 Openair’s website and Eventclique.
