The success of Super 24 belies its humble beginnings as a small urban dance competition that started six years ago in ITE College West, the heartland of heartlands in Singapore. Having grown its audience to more than 37,000 since 2012, this year’s edition will see a whopping 73 teams battle it out for the championship title. If you enjoy dance or even just performing arts in general, head down to OCBC Arena over 4-5 August for a great way to spend the weekend!
Things kicked off with the Divisionals for Secondary and Qualifiers for the ASEAN Open that was held at Our Tampines Hub last weekend, where teams in the Secondary and Open categories competed for a spot in the grand finals on 4th and 5th August at Singapore Sports Hub alongside the finals of the Tertiary National Finals. It was an exhilarating viewing experience, as various teams came up with unique concepts for that one stage, from prison inmates to chess pieces, divas and more. Filled with power-packed dancing and loads of stunts, it was hard to pick a favourite, especially since only the top selected teams made it to the finals.
That’s not all, this year also sees Super 24 expanding its reach into the region, where 6 teams from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Philippines will compete in the inaugural ASEAN Open Championship. Singapore’s top teams will go head to head with these six teams for the grand title.
We certainly have no idea who will win, but from what we saw at the Divisionals and ASEAN Open Qualifiers, we can say for sure that whoever attends the grand finals of Super 24 will be in for a wild, unforgettable ride!
Super 24 Finals is happening 4-5 August at OCBC Arena, Singapore Sports Hub, 5 Stadium Drive, Singapore 397631. Tickets are priced at $12 and are available here. For more information, please visit website.
