Tan Tarn How’s The Lady of Soul & Her Ultimate ‘S’ Machine

A nation decides it needs more “soul” to become a vibrant place. Charged with this herculean task, a civil servant decides that the best way to achieve this is by doing a “soul search”. Three candidates-a mama-san, a left-wing radical and a representative from the arts-present their ideas on what “soul” is.

In her interpretation of Tan Tarn How’s landmark satirical play, Zizi Azah puts together a cast led by Crispian Chan, Prem John, Gene Sha Rudyn, and Rizman Putra as the titular Lady of Soul. Set against the backdrop of a perverse and corrupt society, The Lady of Soul and Her Ultimate “S” Machine is brought to life once again to relive its madcap moments and acerbic dialogue.

The Lady of Soul and Her Ultimate “S” Machine was selected by The Straits Times as a Classic Singapore Play in 2014.
