Whether it’s rain or shine (or another COVID-19 variant), Singaporeans’ love for travel will never subside. This year, in particular, we’re itching to make up for lost time, with the resurrection of travel from the clutches of the pandemic. As spring blooms round the world, it’s prime season to catch our earth’s natural beauties. If you’re dreaming of taking a relaxing retreat this spring break, here’s our line-up of the best spring destinations for Singapore travellers in 2022 (all Vaccinated Travel Lanes of course!).
Gangwon-do, South Korea
If we’re talking about spring, we absolutely have to mention cherry blossoms. Take a trip to Samcheok in the Gangwon-do providence between March and April, to witness the spectacular cherry blossoms and canola flowers at their peak. But there’s more to do besides soaking up the beauty of the pink-hued foliage. Head out to Alpaca World in Chuncheon and get a first-hand forest experience as you touch, feed, and walk these adorable animals in nature. If that’s not your cup of tea, take a stroll down Chuncheon Dakgalbi Street to grab a bite of the province’s delicacy, makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles served with veggies, pork slices and hard-boiled egg).
Lisse, The Netherlands
Another prime flower-viewing destination is none other than the heart of the Netherlands’ flower-bulb region: Lisse. Dubbed the Garden of Europe, the Keukenhof is open to public for a blissful heartbeat of just eight weeks. Home to over 800 varieties of tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils, the Keukenhof will welcome visitors from March 24 till 15 May this year. Live your Disney fairytale and bask in a slower-paced way of life, by strolling through flower fields dotted with fountains, waterways, and a windmill. If you want to get in some cardio while you’re at it, you can rent a bike and embark on four different routes around the vicinity.
Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia
Stunning landscapes demand exploration, and that’s exactly what Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia offers. Whether you’re looking for an adventurous hotspot or hoping to immerse in culture and heritage, there’s something for everyone.
