Football matches involving Liverpool and Manchester United tend to be a combustible affair. Though the two Northern English cities share similar histories and values, one can expect fireworks when these teams face-off on the pitch. Delivering that same feisty atmosphere to Singapore this November is The Castlewood Group Battle of the Reds 2015 – a pop-up derby featuring a select line-up of Liverpool and Manchester United legends who will lock horns in a game of football.

Organised by Masters Football Asia (MFA) and Castlewood Group, this match will take place at the National Stadium at the Singapore Sports Hub, and tickets are going quick. Response has been overwhelming and organisers have announced today that they are releasing an additional 7,000 tickets for the 80-minute, 11-a-side game between these legendary rivals.
From Sir Alex Ferguson’s famous jibe about knocking Liverpool off their perch to Luis Suarez snubbing Patrice Evra’s handshake, encounters between these adversaries never fail to bring about a wave of excitement, not to mention the inherent tribalism that fans display whenever their beloved teams cross swords.
Former United winger Lee Sharpe opines candidly, ‘I think the competitive edge never leaves you. As soon as you get the boots on and step across the white line and get on the pitch, you want to win and do the best you can. There’s always pressure against Liverpool. We don’t like losing to Liverpool and they don’t like losing to us. They got the better of us the last few times we played them and I don’t know if revenge is the right word but we certainly owe them one, that’s for sure.’

Well, the battle-cry has officially been sounded and supporters can expect a bruising confrontation between some of the finest athletes to grace the game. Retired professionals such as Jerzy Dudek, Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, Luis Garcia, Patrik Berger, Vladimir Smicer, Dietmar Hamann Phil Babb and Bjorn Kvarme are confirmed for the Liverpudlian side, while the Mancunians will be taking Paul Parker, Lee Sharpe, Andy Cole, Ronny Johnsen, Karel Poborsky, Louis Saha, Quinton Fortune, Keith Gillespie, and Lee Martin along to the field.
With so many legendary players on show, this sporting spectacle is the best chance to show who the real kings of the North are – definitely a contest not to be missed!
