The Pigeonhole – A refuge from hectic life in the CBD CLOSED

With The Pigonhole about to celebrate it’s 1 year anniversary, it seems only right to do a short write up about what is personally one of my favourite hang-outs in Singapore.

If you’ve never been to or heard of The Pigeonhole, let me tell you my basic routine when I personally go: 1. Order a nice coffee, 2. Pick up the house guitar, 3. Sit myself down on one of the very comfortable sofas, 4. Relax, and alternately do some work, play guitar and read the random books/pamphlets lying around.

From their website, the title so accurately explains what they’re about:

The Pigeonhole is a book cafe & dynamic arts space promoting local NGOs, music, film, performance & art

Inside you will find a whole world of distraction from your working schedule….random books on philosophy and sociology scattered around, local newsletters and posters promoting design and music groups and much, much more.

The coffee here is decent, but honestly I rather prefer their random (though tasty) selection of beer and ciders here – Kopperberg and Brothers feature on the menu, and they have some nice teas too. This is really a great place to come and unwind.

The last point to make is that they organize a ton of events here! These will more-often-than-not be musical performances by local indie artists, though they do get a lot of traveling musicians coming as well. Aside from the music, you can expect to see film screenings, poetry recitals and other speakers of interest.

You can expect to see a lot of their events listed on the City Nomads events section. One of which of course is their 1st Birthday party 3rd March (TONIGHT!). For more details, check it out here: The Pigeonhole turns 1 Event on City Nomads.

Dear Rayner and Ave, keep it up. It’s an awesome place and we love it. 🙂
