The Screening Room Presents: Contemporary Chinese Classics

Monday, February 03, 2014 – Saturday, March 01, 2014

Chinese language cinema has been around for more than 100 years. With such a rich heritage and diverse dialects, the Chinese-language film industry spans an entire region that includes not just China but also Taiwan and Hong Kong, each with their own unique characteristics and complexities. Ushering in the Year of Horse, this Chinese New Year, Screening Room brings to you three contemporary Chinese classic films each representing a genre that is well-known in its respective regions: Ang Lee’s Taiwanese Family Drama ‘Eat Drink Man Woman’, Zhang Yimou’s Chinese Wuxia Epic ‘Hero’ and Andrew Lau and Alan Mak’s Hong Kong Triad film ‘Infernal Affairs’.
