Salted & Hung Presents ‘BJ & Drew’s Sleazy Supper’

Leave two whacky chefs in a kitchen together, and one can only expect a brilliant meal of epic proportions. This Sunday sees a dinner collaboration between contemporary Australian restaurant Salted & Hung‘s Chef Drew Nocente and wonderboy Chef Bjorn Shen, Chef-Owner of Artichoke and Bird Bird, as the duo whips up a cheeky seven-course dinner inspired by the dodgy supper joints of Orchard Towers, Chinatown, and Geylang. With politically-incorrect creations like Chao Da Rice (crab, crab fat, yuzu crab, lala, and lard) and Bird Wing (lemongrass, garlic, and green nam jim), don’t expect to go home unscarred.

BJ & Drew’s Sleazy Supper is happening on Sunday, 21 May 2017, 6pm onwards. Priced at $88++ per person. Salted & Hung is located at 12 Purvis St, Singapore 188591, p. +65 6358 3130.

Bowmore Reveals Refreshed Global Travel Retail Aged Range

Ever heard of Bowmore distillery’s legendary No.1 Vaults? It’s the oldest Scotch maturation warehouse in the world, and they’ve launched a new range exclusive to global travel retail, which is to say, airports all around the world. Making a return to age statements for the first time in five years, the Bowmore 10 Year Old: Dark and Intense sees an intense depth from the marriage of oak sherry casks and hogsheads, while Bowmore 15 Year Old: Golden and Elegant features a refreshing silken peat-smoked character with notes of citrus. Finally, the Bowmore 18 Year Old: Deep and Complex makes for a perfectly balanced whisky, with rich chocolate tones and hints of treacle coffee, dates, and bitter-sweet orange peel washing over the palate – truly the jewel in the crown, isn’t it?

Bowmore Aged Range is available at most global travel retail outlets worldwide.

Sugarhall Sees New Steakhouse-Inspired Food Menu

As the rum-focused bar Sugarhall prepares to celebrate its third year in business, Chef Gary Lian takes over the reins of the kitchen with a grandiose steakhouse-inspired menu that sees timeless dishes like Housemade Corn Bread ($12), Steak Tartare (22), Hanging Tender Steak ($44, 400g), and an impressive 21-day Dry-aged Rib Eye Steak ($74, 400g) – sourced from Ireland’s John Stone farm and served with decadent bone marrow butter. It’s not all classic stuff either, with boring iceberg wedges replaced by inventive vegetable dishes such as the umami-rich Endive with Black Cow Cheddar ($14).

Sugarhall is located at 102 Amoy Street, Singapore 069922, p. +65 6222 9102. Open Mon-Thu 6pm  1am, Fri-Sat 6pm  2am. Happy Hour dining from 6pm 7.30pm.
