The Weekly Grub: 24 June

Make your July an exciting one with the stellar lineup of food to try this week, like the buffet dinners to break fast, a fried chicken party (we’re not joking about this one!), a piquant cake collection, and a scrumptious heritage menu from one of our favourite curry joints.

Artichoke x Cocotte presents Bird-Day Party

Can’t get enough of the crispy goodness that is fried chicken? Head down to Artichoke x Cocette‘s Bird-Day Party, which promises nothing but the restaurants’ signature takes of this universally loved dish. So call your pals and experience the spectacle that is free-flow buckets of Artichoke’s shish taouk fried chicken, and Cocotte’s crispy confit chicken wings. To make sure you end your night on a high and rather full note, don’t miss Chefs Bjorn Shen and Anthony Yeoh’s collaboration dessert of donut balls rolled in baharat sugar, carrot jam and orange ice cream!

Antoinette Launches Summer Cake Collection

Antoinette’s Pavlova

Inspired by the bright petals and fragrant breezes of summer, each member of Antoinette‘s Summer collection promises something for everyone. We think the pistachio-hued raspberry mousse Summer will be a hit with those who like fruity and earthy, nutty falvours; while Jasmin, an elegant mousse infused with jasmine and osmanthus, will impress those who prefer more delicate desserts. Our personal favourite is the Pavlova, which harmoniously blends the refreshing flavours and textures of rose petal meringue, finger sponge, yuzu, lychee, rose crème mousseline and raspberry jelly.

Break Fast at Katong Kitchen

Looking for a great place to break your fast this Ramadan? Katong Kitchen‘s got your back with mouthwatering dishes like Seafood and Rice Vermelli Kerabu, tender Braised Squid in Spicty Sweet and Sour Sauce, and succulent Chilli Crayfish cooked in a homemade chilli recipe. You’re bound to be satisfied by this buffet dinner!

Muthu’s Curry Celebrates 46 Amazing Years

The Mannuvasanai Menu from Muthu’s Curry

Serving up curry passionately since 1969, we’ve all heard of Muthu’s Curry and probably have been there at least once in our lives. For their anniversary this year, Muthu’s Curry will be launching a limited-edition heritage menu Mannuvasanai ($32++ for two) – that’s Tamil for ‘fragrance of the land – which pays homage to Chettinad in South India, the birthplace of the brand’s late founder Mr Ayyakkannu. We were impressed by the Vazhakkai Varruval, a dish of unripened bananas lightly battered in a fragrant base of curry leaves, cumin, and fennel, as well as the fork-tender Milagu Varutha Kozhi, a traditional chicken dish that’s simmered for an hour in bold flavours like ginger, garlic, and chillies.

Mitzo Launches New Set Menus

Mitzo’s chic interior

It’s all about imaginative cocktails and contemporary Chinese dining over at the Park Hotel Group’s chic new restaurant Mitzo. Melding familiar Cantonese flavours together with an exciting modern flair, the Four Course Set Menu ($24++) features dishes like crispy roast pork belly, wok-fried pearl clams with mushroom in spicy sauce. If you’re feeling indulgent, the Deluxe Set Menu ($68++) is sure to satisfy with fare like Traditional Braised Pork Belly and Golden Fried Soft Shell Crab in Curry Floss.
