The Weekly Grub: 5 Things to Eat & Drink in Singapore This Week

This week, relish the time-tested flavours of some of Tiong Bahru’s best hawkers, stuff your face with a temptingly affordable steak buffet, load up on breakfast at Grain Traders, and more.

Tiong Bahru Hawkers Pop-Up at The Clifford Pier

Die-hard fan of the food from Tiong Bahru Food Centre? For a fortnight, satisfy your cravings for chee kueh, lor mee, carrot cake, and more as eight hawkers (including Kim Fa Fishball Noodle and HarriAnn’s) bring their legendary dishes to the brilliant arches of The Fullerton Bay Hotel – formerly a hawker centre itself. The setting may be fancier, but you can expect the exact same unparalleled fare cooked to absolute perfection. Plus, the hotel’s own culinary team will also present their renditions of local cuisine with its signature Kurobuta Kong Bak Pau and Kambing Mutton Soup.

Available from 30 April to 14 May 2017. The Weekday Lunch Buffet is priced at $39++, while the Daily Dinner is priced at $59++ per person. The Clifford Pier is located at 80 Collyer Quay, Singapore 049326, p. +65 6877 8911.

A Display of Craftsmanship with Plentyfull’s Updated Dinner Menu

What we love about Plentyfull is its constant menu revisions to keep things fresh. Centred around their culinary philosophy of creating honest and good food completely from scratch, it’s latest ala carte dinner menu introduces a House Charcuterie that consists premium meats like the acorn-fed Jamon Iberico and dry-aged Duck Breast Prosciutto. Want something healthier? Order the Kale & Arugula Sesame Caesar Salad with Jamon Iberico, or their delightful Seasonal Vegetable Tart. Other fantastic additions include the tantalising Grilled Spiced Lamb Ribs and super airy Miso Souffle with toasted walnut ice cream.

Ding Dong Launches New Menu with Familiar Flavours

Beloved for its innovative and playful take on traditional Southeast Asian fare, Ding Dong’s new Assistant Head Chef Miller Mai brings in 14 exciting creations that take you down memory lane through Vietnam, Thailand, and the rest of Asia. Start off with the spicy Crispy Pork Trotter before sinking your teeth into the Chargrilled Pork Spare Ribs (a twist on satay), and then diving into the wonderfully executed dessert Coconut Snow with pandan jelly noodle and gula melaka, much like our favourite cendol, except that it’s not.

Ding Dong is located at 115 Amoy Street #01-02, Singapore 069935, p. +65 6557 0189. Open Mon-Sat 12pm – 3pm, 6pm – 12am. Closed Sun.
