The Weekly Grub: 28th October 2015

From the opening of two specialty grocers to a new cocktails at Catalunya, and the first hint of truffle season, this week’s edition of The Weekly Grub gives you the lowdown on the hottest happenings in Singapore’s food & beverage scene.

New Cocktails at Catalunya Singapore

The introduction of a new bar manager at Catalunya Singapore gives us new reason to renew our penchant for its amazing cocktails. Miguel Espinosa continues the mixology sorcery that is the trademark of Catalunya imbibing – the classics are given refreshing modernist treatments. Bloody Mary turns from boring hangover antidote to sophisticated molecular tipple with green peppers sous vide in vodka and smoked rosemary, leaving a crisp, herbaceous finish that rises above the mild sear of Tobasco sauce. A twist on the classic Ramos Gin Fizz yields a convention-busting, almond-accented Botanical Gin Fizz, which is super frothy from 12 minutes of solid shaking.
