From the latest pop up restaurant in Singapore to Kult’s new café at Emily Hill, this week’s edition of The Weekly Grub gives you the lowdown on the 5 hottest things to eat and drink in Singapore’s buzzing food & beverage scene.
Lazy Susan Pops Up at House at Dempsey
Cynthia Chua, head honcho of the Spa Esprit Group, sure knows how to pick ’em chefs! Lazy Susan – the group’s latest collaboration with Chef Haan Palau-Chang – is an all-day dining pop-up that aims to revolutionise the essence of café food in Singapore; a nod to the ever-evolving vibrancy of cuisines available around the world. Inspired by Ms. Chua’s culinary jaunts across the globe and Chef Haan’s multi-cultural background, we thoroughly enjoyed the dishes we tried Lazy Susan, including the yummy Crispy Prawn Paste Chicken with Rice Waffles and Sambal Maple ($22), Lotus Root Salad ($9), and the fragrant Marry Mee Goreng ($12).
Lazy Susan will pop up at House at Dempsey from now till 27th Dec (Thursdays to Sundays), and at Open Door Policy daily from 5th January to 6th February.
Kult Kafé Opens at Upper Wilkie Road
The metamorphosis of Kult is clear for all to see. Starting out as an Indie magazine in 2009, Kult has been a mainstay of Singapore’s budding creative scene, with the arresting visuals and designs of its quirky magazine covers and art galleries capturing the imagination of many. This December, the visual culture publication will be opening its first café atop Emily Hill, an edgy neighbourhood bar and performance space that’ll serve classic cocktails and draft beers from Archipelago. Do stop by the Kult Kafe Weekender this Saturday and Sunday, a 2 day festival of music, art and family-friendly activities.

P. Bistro Opens Second Outlet at Palais Renaissance
After the success of its first outlet at Little India, P. Bistro has recently opened a second eatery at the upmarket Palais Renaissance, offering the same French bistro-style dishes with Asian influences. For instance, the oven-baked White Fish Parcel ($26) consists of fresh barramundi doused in Hua Tiao wine and served alongside zucchini, ume (Japanese plum) and tomatoes. The Nonya Dory ($18) is also another representation of P. Bistro’s fusion philosophy, with its Peranakan sauce and sweet and sour achaar (Indian pickle dish).
