A Cappella Society presents The Yale Alley Cats

19 MAR 2016 | Be enthralled by one of the top A Cappella groups from the US, The Yale Alley Cats – a fourteen-person all-male a cappella group established in 1943!

The group found its roots in jazz but have expanded to include classical, Motown, pop and other genres, crafted over 200 arrangements, released a few dozen albums, and traveled around the globe upwards of twenty times. They’ve performed for President Obama, her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and Queen Silvia of Sweden; appeared on Martha Stewart Living, sung with Kristin Chenoweth, and been praised as “Mm-mm delicious” by Aretha Franklin herself.

Their musical repertoire has grown over 70 years to include a mix of everything from the Temptations and Stevie Wonder to Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift, while staying true to their roots in the standards of the American Songbook from the likes of Gershwin, Ellington, and Porter.

The Yale Alley Cats is performing on Saturday, 19 March 2016, 5.30pm at Aliwal Arts Centre. Tickets are priced at $35, $30 (concession) and are available via Peatix.
