There’s A New Seiko Flagship Boutique In Takashimaya Shopping Centre, Singapore

Time to get a new watch? With over 100 years of Japanese watchmaking experience, Seiko is pretty much synonymous with quality, reliability, and craftsmanship. And with over half a century of presence in Singapore, it comes as no surprise that Seiko has chosen Takashimaya at Ngee Ann City to launch their flagship boutique at.

Spanning over 700 square feet, the cool blue store boasts a premium and stylish concept for watch enthusiasts to explore and experience every aspect of Seiko’s exquisite timepieces, from its heritage to design to craftsmanship. Yes, Seiko is a lot more established in horological history that most people think.

Grand Seiko may have declared independence from the latter since 2017, but that doesn’t mean they’ve cut ties. Seiko’s flagship boutique will also feature a prominent and dedicated section for the brand, displayed in the trademark blue and silver finishing that symbolises the fusion of elegance and simplicity that each timepiece offers. For the uninitiated, Grand Seiko is considered one of the most luxurious brands long favoured by astute watch collectors. It is also one of the few watch companies that produces every single component of its watches in-house. That goes to show that the best horological masterpieces are not necessarily Swiss.

In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of its Spring Drive technology, Seiko’s in-house movement, the flagship boutique at Takashimaya will see the launch of three exclusive Grand Seiko timepieces, a first for Singapore.

Two collections from Grand Seiko will be featured: The Elegance Collection and the Sport Collection. The timepieces from these collections were handcrafted in two studios in Japan dedicated to the fine art of watchmaking, with each piece carefully assembled by skilled artisans to ensure the highest precision, legibility and durability.

The Grand Seiko Elegance Collection is a crystallisation of sophisticated simplicity, distilling the hallmarks of Japanese aesthetics into its design and form. Highlighting this is the manual-winding dress watch SBGY003, an understated piece refined with its slim profile.

SBGY003

Encased in a brushed stainless steel case with a radiant sunray dial, the SBGY003 exudes class and will definitely turn heads wherever you go. Melding high art with sophisticated engineering, the SBGY003 features a high definition curved sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating to give an unbridled view of the dial. The see-through caseback showcases the craftmanship of the new Spring Drive caliber 9R31 movement, which has a high precision rate and a power reserve of up to 72 hours.

SBGC231

From the Grand Seiko Sport Collection, the SBGC231 and SBGA403 are resplendent in the imagery of the Grand Seiko lion, first introduced as the brand’s emblem in 1960. Drawing inspiration from the strength and tenacity of the lion, the SBGC231 and SBGA403 feature two different and specially adjusted Spring Drive calibers – the Spring Drive Chronograph GMT 9R96 and the Spring Drive 9R15, respectively.

SBGA403

The SBGC231 and SBGA403 are made to handle tough situations, so you don’t have to worry about leaving your watch behind when you’re out exercising or participating in high-octane activities. Both watches feature hour, minute, seconds and chronograph hands borne of a new and substantial design set upon a contrasting dial to increase the legibility of time, and it’s further enhanced by the use of Lumibrite on the hands, hour markers and bezel.

Pictures definitely do not do these beautiful and timeless pieces justice. Even if you’re not on the hunt for a new watch, head by the new Seiko flagship boutique to find out more and admire these masterpieces, and the rest of Seiko’s collection, in person!
