Bask in the magic of the big band sound as the Thomson Jazz Club celebrates its 20th anniversary at the Esplanade.
This dapper double-bill presents the twin-engine roar of the Thomson Big Band and the Thomson Swing Band, both made up of talented jazz musicians, amateur and professional, from Singapore and beyond who love nothing better than to swing along to the big band beat. Their 20 years of big band music-making has brought them to international jazz festivals and also seen them reaching out to the Singapore music community through their many performances and workshops.
Expect your favourite jazz standards such as Take the A Train, Come Fly with Me, Cheek to Cheek, and many more as these cool cats are joined by special guest jazz musicians from Singapore and USA – vocalists Alemay Fernandez and Greta Matassa, bassist Christy Smith, and trumpeteer Greg Glassman all chime in for what promises to be a big, brassy evening.
Forget the smoke and mirrors. This is straight up, unadulterated big band magic.
