Top 5 things to do in Singapore this week: 12th – 18th May 2014

This week, Singapore is aflurry with fashionista fabulousness thanks to the Audi Fashion Festival and Blueprint Emporium, will bounce to the bass line courtesy of UK dance duo Disclosure, and will be keeping it real with the Endeavours Documentary Film Festival. All that plus a chance to run like the wind down Singapore’s much loved green corridor with the so named Green Corridor Run. Sounds like the perfect balance of excesses and remedies if you ask us! 1. Be inspired by the Endeavours Documentary Film Festival

Live vicariously through the lives, journeys and challenges of others this week with a line up of 10 fascinating and critically acclaimed documentaries during this 5-day festival – expect docufilms about a world famous jewel thief, Arctic mountaineers, intrepid reporters, smugglers and whole host of other captivating characters. Bound to inspire and rouse debate, we suggest booking a couple of tickets and going for a jar or two afterwards to dissect your film of choice.

2. Make like a fashionista at Audi Fashion Festival

The eagerly awaited annual fashion event and the place to see and be seen is back sprinkling style stardust over our little red dot with the best of the international best, Asian greats and emerging talents. Tickets are still available for some of the shows, but if you want to avoid the pretension then get down to the DressCamp show which will be packed full of vibrant designs, statement clothes and fun styling.

3. Shop ’til you drop at Blueprint Emporium

If shopping rather than looking is more your fashion thing, hotfoot it down to this year’s edition of Blueprint Emporium, which will be bringing together a fashion-crazy 200 local and international brands under one roof. We say have a massive blow out, let you wallet die die die, and then go on best behaviour for the rest of the year to make up for it.

4. Bounce to the bass line with Disclosure

The hot hot hot UK electronic dance duo Disclosure is bringing their trademark mix of ‘so now’ UK garage, 90s house and killer soulful vocals to Zouk for a night of bangers which promises plenty of massive head-bobbing to sick bass lines and bouncing for your sonic pleasure. 5. Run like the wind! at the Green Corridor Run

Discover this unique and much loved stretch of greenery and woodlands that runs the entire length of Singapore, from the old Tanjong Pagar Rail Station in the South to the border of Malaysia in the North, with your running shoes firmly on! The run is set to be 10k of green bliss that will be perfect for serious runners or nature lovers alike. Last year’s event was a sell out so get to it, Nomads!
