Top 5 things to do in Singapore this week: 17th – 23rd February

Phew! Bet you’re all glad that the Valentine’s malarky is over. Now that it is, let us tempt you with matters other than the heart; including a feast for the eyes courtesy of a new photography exhibition, a feast for the tummy with free flow pizza on a rooftop no less, a feast for the ears with awesome live gigs and a feel-good shopping feast with a flea for a cause. 1. Be wowed by the majesty of the world’s cities at “Cityscapes”

Catch the world’s cityscapes in all their glory at “Cityscapes”, the debut exhibition by English panoramic photographer Jason Denning. Five years in the making, the exhibition is the result of the photographer’s endless quest to explore the world and cities. Using unique double long exposures and impeccable attention to detail on large format photographic film, be prepared to see iconic city skylines as you’ve never seen them before. A must for photography lovers.

2. Catch an underground-esque gig at Lomography Blue Hour Sessions

The fourth in a six part series of monthly Blue Hour gigs and exhibitions featuring collaborations with a roster of local bands and graphic artists. This month’s gig features sub:shaman x Marc Gabriel Log and Space Days x Afiq Omar of Syndicate. Expect a cool indie sensory and sonic experience!

3. Revel in electronic ecstasy with Empire of the Sun – live in Singapore!

The amazing and award winning Australian electronic music act Empire of the Sun is setting on Fort Canning this weekend. Be prepared for a high-octane display of lights, choreography, and scintillating showmanship – as the band performs hits from their highly successful debut album Walking on a Dream and their critically acclaimed sophomore album Ice on the Dune (released 14th June 2013). Can you tell we’re just a little bit excited!!?

4. Get your flea on with Public Garden & Flea for Good

When was the last time you visited the library and borrowed some books to unwind? Or when was the last time you did something for a good cause? This weekend’s fleas offer you the opportunity to do both – with Public Garden taking place at The National Library Building and Flea for Good, where a portion of proceeds made from booth rental goes towards Singapore Children’s Society. Expect craft items, local fashion labels and interesting knick-knacks.

5. Fill your face with free flow pizza at Gastrogig’s Secret Rooftop Revelry

Did someone say free flow pizzas? At an urban farm atop Chinatown? Those crazy cats at Gastrogig are back and teaming up with the coolest urban farmers at NONG-Edible Gardens & our favourite cook Shen Tan for a farm-to-table pop up on a rooftop. Expect free flow pizzas, spit roast “BABI” and a dose of freshly harvested greens plus a vantage point in the heart of Chinatown. Wash it all down with free flow Sailor Jerry cocktails and wicked beats for a Saturday with a difference.
