Top 5 things to do in Singapore this week: 26th May – 1st June 2014

In this week’s round up of top events in Singapore, we have our breaths taken away by some seriously mean tap dancing moves from the Tap Dogs; give a little local loving with a cool Tiong Bahru night market; laugh our cares away with some farcical comedy courtesy of What The Butler Saw; and celebrate sistas with an all female art exhibition at the hip Kult Gallery.  All that before we run off into the night with the Sundown Marathon. Find out more about our top pick of things to do this week:

1. Be wowed by the Tap Dogs

Having performed in 330 cities in more than 37 countries around the world, this high-energy show celebrating the jaw-dropping dance capabilities of its cast is landing in Singapore. Expect to see tapping combined with some pretty impressive gymnastic moves, as you wonder how on earth they do THAT! in this fun, upbeat show.

Tap Dogs is taking place on 27th May – 1st June at Marina Bay Sands, 10 Bayfront Avenue, Singapore, 018956. For more information and ticketing see the Showbiz Asia website.

2. Love local with The Local People x GushCloud Night Market

The alleyway along Hoot Kiam Road is set to be transformed with lights, food and music in this cool sounding Tiong Bahru night market. Showcasing a variety of local indie talents and offering up food from vendors who make great eats with great purpose, think street party + artists’ market + live music!

The Local People x GushCloud Night Market is taking place on 30th May at Alleyway @ Hoot Kiam Road, Hoot Kiam Road, Singapore, 249393. For more information see the event Facebook page here.

3. Give it up for some female power with Girls Of The Underworld

The super hip Kult Gallery will be staying true to their mission to promote fresh faced artists and illustrators with its forthcoming exhibition Girls of The Underworld. An edgy showcase of works from 34 Singapore-based female artists, explore their perspective on living and working in fast-paced modern Asia through themes of music, identity, pop TV & movie culture.

4.  Step into a madhouse with What The Butler Saw

Get immersed in a night of farcical fun with What The Butler Saw, a hilarious play about a psychiatric doctor who is caught in the act while attempting to seduce his young and impressionable secretary. Jam packed with hilarious confusions, mistaken identities, blackmail and cross-dressing, expect the characters to lose their marbles and eek! their clothes also.

What the Butler Saw is showing from 28th – 31st May at DBS Arts Centre, 20 Merbau Road, Robertson Walk, Singapore, 239035. For more information and ticketing see SISTIC here.

5. Beat the heat with the Sundown Marathon

If the thought of putting yourself through your paces while the sun is up fills you with dread, then the 7th edition of this night run is probably just the thing for you, with three categories starting from 10k. See the lights in the dark, feel the coolness of the night air, and the scent of the fresh breeze as you weave through the heart of Singapore surrounded by darkness. Bring on the night!
