Top 5 things to do in Singapore this week: 27th January – 2nd February

Before you get sucked into a whirlwind of reunion dinners, do something for yourself this week whether it’s unleashing your inner artist, getting your designer fashion fix over cocktails, being entertained by comedy hopefuls or discovering cool and crazy art. Check out our pick of things to do this week below:

1. Rub shoulders with the creatives at SPORE Art Salon

Meet, mingle and be inspired at this monthly creative mash up which alternates between performances from musicians, drawing sessions with models, contortionists (!), poets, dancers, actors and more. This month you can expect finger tappin’ goodness on the guitar from Neil Chan, interactive visual art by Uwe Juergen Bauer, a stint of song and dance and that’s just for starters.

SPORE Art Salon takes place on Tuesday 28th January, 7.30pm onwards at Artistry, 17 Jalan Pinang, Singapore 199149. For more information see here.

2. Get your fashion fix with StyleTribute’s Cocktails & Couture

The first of three weeks of this fashion-forward pop up and a 360 degrees fashion and beauty event for those who love a bit of luxe for less. Luxuriate in and try on StyleTribute’s collection of pre-loved luxury items including Prada bags, Givenchy dresses, Louboutin heels and many more at up to 90% off.  Plus this week put your feet up at BLOW + BAR’s grooming bar and sip on bubbly while getting your hair and nails done as you take in heavenly aromas from Frangrance Du Boise.

The first edition of Cocktails & Couture takes place on Wednesday 29th January from 5pm at Lime House, 2 Jiak Chuan Road Singapore 089260. For more information see here.

3. Talk Cock Comedy

Putting paid to grumbles that there’s no local comedy scene, this weekly open mic comedy night is THE place to catch the local comedy talents of today, the stars of tomorrow plus some people you may want to throw rotten tomatoes at! Plus this week’s gig sees a chance to catch the winner of the HK International Comedy Festival 2013 Rishi Budhrani as host.

Talk Cock Comedy takes place on January 29th, from 8.30pm at Blu Jaz 12 Bali Lane, Singapore 189848. For more information see here.

4. Soak up some counter-culture with The Vault’s featured artist WeJungle

If you haven’t had a chance to scope out The Vault at its new location in Boat Quay then this could be the perfect excuse to do so. Because our favourite crazy artist collective WeJungle will be unleashing their psychedelic brand of art with a debut of new works alongside limited edition one offs in this special showcase. Expect a good dose of creative cool.

The Vault’s Featured Artist: We Jungle, takes place on Thursday 30th January, from 8pm at at The Vault, 23 Circular Road Singapore, 049380. For more information see here.

5. Ride into the Year of The Horse with cocktails and cool sounds at Chillmatic

Our favourite long weekend warm up is back at The Cufflink Club. If you need a bit of cool this Chinese New Year then sipping lip smacking cocktails to urban grooves and killer beats spun by DJ collective Matteblacc should do the trick. Here’s to raising a glass or three to the new Lunar Year. Gong Ci Fa Cai everybody!

Chillmatic takes place on Thursday 30th January at Cufflink Club, 6 Jiak Chuan Road, Tanjong Pagar, Singapore 089262.
