Top 5 things to do in Singapore this week: 3rd – 9th March

This week is absolutely jam-packed with A-grade events making it a very tough one to call. It’s not often we see a week filled with such major events (four festivals no less!), and it’s left us all a-tizzy! With two music festivals, a food festival, a light art festival plus a global award winning photography exhibition if you don’t go and do at least one of these things this week….shame on your name!

1. Rock on!!! at Singapore Rock Festival

If you’re somewhat of a metalhead (or ex-metalhead for that matter), you’re without doubt a hard rock fan and will be clambering to cram your ears full of hard rock sounds at Southeast Asia’s rock music event of the year. Korn, Rob Zombie, Black Veil Brides and Five Finger Death Punch will be taking over Fort Canning on the first day followed by Alice in Chains and Alter Bridge on the next. ROCK ON DUDES!!!!

2. Embark on a gourmet adventure at Savour

Singapore’s largest gourmet food festival returns once more with its trademark mix of Michelin-starred chefs, award-winning restaurants, culinary activities and international food producers. With over 20 restaurants participating, serving up over 50 signature dishes get set for four days of drooling and feasting!

3. Light up your life with I Light Marina Bay

Marina Bay transforms into a vibrant kaleidoscope as light meets art in Asia’s only sustainable light art festival from this week onwards. Expect stunning creative light art installations by local and international artists, outdoor events and much more, all in the name of championing the voice of sustainability. And for all you foodies out there, PasarBella market will be taking up residence at I Light with current PasarBella traders and new purveyors offering a smorgasbord of gastronomic treats and a festival feel.

4. Serenade your ears with acoustic sounds at Mosaic Music Festival

If hard rock is not your bag but jazz, funk, electronica, folk, indie, R&B and hip-hop are, then the Mosaic Music Festival is back for a 10th edition to serenade your ears with scintillating acoustic sounds from internationally acclaimed musicians, alongside budding artists. The last song in the festival’s 10 year set, soak it up or regret it forever!

5. Be wowed by photography from the world’s top photographers at the World Press Photo Exhibition

This jaw-dropping exhibition has made its way all around the world having visited nearly 100 cities in 45 countries and is now hitting its final port of call – Singapore. The award-winning photos form an eyewitness record of global events, giving the viewer a chance to revisit some of the most significant moments of recent times such as the Syrian conflict and the London Olympic Games.
