Urgent Run

Registrations are open for the Urgent Run Singapore, a 5km fun run on Saturday 7 November in East Coast Park, organised by World Toilet Organization to draw attention to the sanitation crisis. The second annual Urgent Run will feature a goody bag valued at more than $80 including an exclusive runner’s t-shirt, a fancy dress option, an exhibition, great prize giveaways and some special surprise guests.

The fun run has a serious side – focussing attention on the global sanitation crisis and calling for urgent action. Of the world’s 7 billion people, 2.5 billion do not have access to proper sanitation, and nearly 1 billion people still defecate in the open. Around 1,000 children die per day due to poor sanitation. All funds raised at the Urgent Run will support World Toilet Organization’s crucial sanitation and advocacy work.

The Singapore Urgent Run is part of a bigger global movement for sanitation this November– with communities around the world holding runs and walk events in the lead-up to UN World Toilet Day on 19 November.

This is the second year for the annual event spearheaded by World Toilet Organization. Last year, there were 22 global Urgent Run events in 13 countries including India, Germany, Italy, Ghana and Mozambique, involving thousands of people in communities across the globe, with more events expected this year.
