Love neighbourhoods with history and hotels with an aesthetic? Then you’ll want to stay at Noku Kyoto when you visit the old capital of Japan. Located right beside a subway exit and more importantly, in an area steeped in a millennium of Japanese history (the Kyoto Imperial Palace is across the road!), there are many traditional craft galleries and confectionaries, as well as the machiya houses and indie restaurants just a stone’s throw away. All 81 rooms also sport locally curated art displays and locally sourced snacks and coffee in the minibar. Read our full review here.
