Wat Benchamabophit (The Marble Temple)

Wat Benchamabophit began construction in 1899 when King Chulalongkorn (King Rama V) asked his half-brother, Prince Narris to build a temple for him. Now one of Thailand’s most beautiful sites, the Marble Temple contains a Sukothai-style Buddha replica called Phra Buddha Chinarahat, with the original located in Wat Mahatat. In the courtyard, there is 52 local and foreign Buddha images, while a Bodhi Tree from Bod Gaya (the place of Buddha’s enlightenment) stands behind a cloister.
