The Weekly Grub: 5 Things to Eat & Drink in Singapore This Week

This week, one of Singapore’s oldest Italian restaurants launches a new a la carte menu. We also have two exquisite afternoon tea experiences, as well as two boozy places for you to check out.

Flagship Launches Version 2.0

Previously a dive bar with all the trappings (think loud rock ‘n roll music and beer pong), the Jigger & Pony Group’s Flagship has rebranded itself as the home of the Old Fashioned with a jazzy new bar – and an expanded collection of whisky – to boot. Most of the drinks are strong; try the Sherry Cask Old Fashioned ($22) and the Chai Negroni ($22). But if you prefer something lighter, go for the Matcha Alexander Fizz ($20) and the Scotch & Apple Juice ($20). For food, you can never go wrong with the Pok Pok Chicken Wings ($16) and the Maine Lobster Roll ($39), into which Chef Polo has added tobiko for some crunch.

Flagship is located at 20 Bukit Pasoh Road, Singapore 089834. Open 5pm-1pm.

A Simply Lambert Experience at Tea Lounge

If you love French pastries, be sure to head down to Regent Singapore this Friday (14 October 2016, 2-5pm) for a traditional three-tiered afternoon tea set by Pastry Chef Nicholas Lambert of Caprice, Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong’s two Michelin-starred restaurant. Priced at $45++, tuck into a delightful assortment of finger sandwiches, Regent’s signature scones, and Chef’s sweets like the Lime Yuzu Tea Cake, Golden Pear Profiterole and Maple Cream, and Double Chocolate Fingers with Hazelnut Crisp. If you can’t make Friday, you can still catch Chef Lambert at a live station at the weekend high tea buffet (15-16 October 2016, 12[pm-2.30pm & 3pm-5.30pm, $61++), where he’ll plate freshly made creations.
