This week sees a tribute to Singapore’s hawker culture and a 4-hands brunch with Hakka and Sicilian cuisine. We also have an Italian family lunch, fine-dining Indian fare, and a whisky festival to complete the list.
River Hawker Festival at The Fullerton Hotel
The River Hawker Festival at Fullerton’s Town Restaurant highlights Singapore’s rich hawker heritage in an era we’re all concerned about the future of hawker culture. Expect the likes of old favourites such as Haron Satay and Roxy Laksa from East Coast Lagoon Food Village, and Roti Prata from Casuarina Curry Restaurant. The Fullerton Hotel’s chefs will also be contributing with their Chicken Rice and Bak Chor Mee. The buffet will also include international selections of seafood and barbecue, and starts at $51++ for adults and $28++ for children (see detailed list here).

4-Hands Brunch at Gattopardo Ristorante di Mare
The ‘Gattopardo & Amici’ 4-Hands Brunch is a series that pairs Gattopardo’s Executive Chef Lino Sauro with a distinguished private chef. The debut brings Chef Lawrence Yeow to the table; a retail/F&B consultant who also cooks at private dinners and at events in top restaurants. This round, the spotlight is on the background of both chefs, who’ll be preparing a menu of Hakka (Yeow) and Sicilian (Sauro) dishes that complement the flavours of one another as a celebration of their 12-year old friendship – as well as National Day.
The ‘Gattopardo & Amici’ 4-hands Brunch will take place on 7 August, 11 am – 3pm, and is priced at $88++. Guests can pay an additional $68++ per pax for free flow of sparkling wines, wines and beers. Gattopardo Ristorante di Mare is located at 34/36 Tras Street, Singapore 079026, p. 6338 5498.
New Weekend Lunch at Osteria Mozza
Osteria Mozza is bringing a new family friendly weekend lunch offering that aims to recreate the relaxed atmosphere of a meal at home with their unique rendition of Italian cuisine. Start with a variety of salads, burrata and bruschetta dishes, and choose from a selection of handcrafted paste, Italian sandwiches, and hearty main dishes like Eggs and Polpette ($32). Aside from the a la carte menu, a three-course set lunch ($48++) with a starter, pasta, and dessert is also available. If the little ones are tagging along, no worries. Their dedicated children’s menu ($29++) featuring an assortment of pasta, fresh juices and gelato, will have you sorted.

Monsoon Menu at Punjab Grill
Punjab Grill honours the monsoon season with a seasonal menu dedicated to smells and flavours that call the season to mind. The piping hot Indian Masala Chai is a must-have during a period of cold rain. Enjoy the staples in Indian households during the monsoon season with dishes like Bhuna Lamb Paya Shorba tempered with Burnt Garlic ($20++), Tandoori Masala Duck and Crispy Artichoke ki Chaat ($22++), and Monsoon Assorted Pakoda (Fritters) Platter (from $20++).

Whisky Festival at Changi Airport by DFS Group
DFS Group recently saw the grand opening of its Terminal 2 Wines and Spirits Duplex, a two story repository of glorious alcohol. In celebration of the opening, DFS is hosting a 7 week long Whisky Festival. Each Friday and Saturday evening will see guest appearances by a different whisky brand (expect names like Macallan and Glenfiddich) and their ambassadors as well as activities like master classes and food pairing sessions.
So if you’re passing through Terminal Two, be sure to stop by for three complimentary cocktails available throughout the festival representing the countries Scotland, United States, and Japan. The spirit in each cocktail originates from a distillery in the represented country; Johnnie Walker for Scotland, Maker’s Mark for the United States, and The Chita for Japan. Just don’t miss your flight.
The Whisky Festival runs on the weekends from 27 Jul to 10 Sep, and is held at 3 – 5pm at The Whiskey House at Level 2, Terminal 2 Duplex and 5.30 – 7.30pm at The Long Bar by Raffles at Level 2, Terminal 3 Duplex.
