The Weekly Grub: 5 Things to Eat & Drink in Singapore This Week

This week, Singapore restaurants are keeping things interesting with three new menu offerings, while the refined palate is in for a treat with a chocolate degustation and fine whiskey gifts.

Chocolate Degustation and Open Dialogue at SPRMRKT

SPRMRKT’s retail partner, Malaysian artisanal chocolatier Chocolate Concierge, is debuting a 70% dark chocolate bar of single-village Semai chocolate. To celebrate the occasion, they’re hosting a chocolate degustation session this Saturday. Learn the process of making a chocolate bar and the art of chocolate making before enjoying a blind tasting of five chocolate varietals. After an afternoon of hard work, you’ll be rewarded with Temuan chocolate profiteroles and flourless chewy Temuan chocolate cookies, as well as a custom-made 12 piece flavour chocolate collection worth $30.

Claypot Delights at Kopi Tiam

Lovers of local cuisine are sure to delight at Kopi Tiam’s new claypot offerings, ranging from the traditional Claypot Frog Legs ($26), perfumed with ginger and onions, to the more contemporary Claypot Seafood Crispy Noodles ($24), which sees crunchy egg noodles slathered in velvety seafood gravy. Familiar Singaporean flavours lace the menu, with Claypot Fish Head ($35) and Claypot Chicken Rice ($22) ensuring that there’s something for everyone.

New Menu Additions at Westin Singapore’s Cook & Brew

Cook & Brew’s Executive Chef Aaron Foster has come up with new additions to the menu of The Westin Singapore’s modern gastro bar. Discover dishes such as the Garganelli Pasta & Duck Confit ($32++), consisting of pasta tossed in butter, parmesan, and a robust double-boiled duck broth, as well as a lavish interpretation of the classic comfort food, the Lobster Grilled Cheese ($49++). Meat lovers can opt for the Beef Pot Roast ($39++) or the USDA 365-Day Grain Fed Striploin ($61++), which are sure to satisfy carnivorous appetites.

Sharing Plates at Club Street Social

Gather up your friends for drinks and sharing plates at Club Street Social, with its new all-day menu featuring bites such as the Minted Lamb Meatballs Linguine ($16) and the Marinated Baby Artichokes ($13). Our favourites, however, are the Beef Short Rib Fritters ($15) – tender, moreish mouthful that pairs wonderfully with the accompanying creamy homemade horseradish sauce – and the Scotch Egg ($11), made with pork sausage, breadcrumbs, and topped with a red onion chutney. The ever-popular Churros ($10) also appear on the menu, balanced with a balsamic strawberry dip and vanilla mascarpone.
