The Weekly Grub: 5 Things to Eat & Drink This Week

With new culinary creations at Lollapalooza and Mitzo, more salted egg yolk mania from PrimaDéli, and new tipples at Gibson, this week is set to be a great one for you foodies.

New Cocktails at Gibson

Botanic Gardens

Best New Cocktail Bar at The Bar Awards Singapore 2016; no. 22 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars, the accolades are piling up for the barely six-month old Gibson, which has also recently refreshed its cocktail (all $23) and bar food offerings. On top of elevated classics like their signature Gibson, the new tipples are categorized into those inspired by people, by time (try Grand Shanghai), and by place (try Chinatown Brewery and Botanic Gardens). Food-wise, you really can’t go wrong with their fresh oysters ($7, though they go at $3 each during 5pm-8pm daily) and Oyster Sliders ($24).

Gibson is located at Level 2, 20 Bukit Pasoh Road, Singapore 089832, p. 9114 8385. Open Mon-Sat 5pm-12am.

PrimaDéli’s Salted Egg Yolk Molten Lava Cheese Tarts

Just when we thought the salted egg yolk food fad has reached its peak, the folks at PrimaDéli have pushed the boundaries with the introduction of salted egg yolk lava cheese tarts ($2.40). Also available in original ($2), which we much prefer, both versions come with a generous amount of cheese filling in a buttery shortcrust pastry.

Available at all PrimaDéli outlets, see website for more information.

New Sharing Plates at Lollapalooza

Whole Roasted Octopus

They’ve recently launched four dishes perfect for communal dining, such as Chargrilled Mediterranean Whole Octopus with spicy sauce, Crispy Roast Pork Belly with wasabi tapenade, and Whole Duck Foie Gras roasted with Madeira and grapes. Do note that sharing dishes have to be pre-ordered three days in advance.

Lollapalooza is located at 1A Keong Saik Road, Singapore 089109, p. 6221 3538. Open Mon-Sat 11.45am-2pm, 6pm-11pm, Sun 11.45am-3pm.
