This week, we have a guest Iron Chef from Thailand, a new after-hours happy hour (read: late night cheap drinks), the launch of Mark & Spencer’s café, and two new menus to try.
Iron Chef Jason Licker Pops Up at Neon Pigeon
Keong Saik izakaya Neon Pigeon will be playing host to Chef Jason Licker, winner of Iron Chef Thailand Pastry Edition and four of his special desserts this week, from 8 to 10 September 2016. Priced at $16 each, diners can look forward to his signature White Chocolate Sake Cream with yuzu scented berries and salted toffee crunch. Chef Jason has also created three new desserts for the pop up to go with the Neon Pigeon’s Japanese-inspired food and cocktail menu, such as the Matcha Puff with Coconut Tapioca and Coconut Crumble.
Neon Pigeon is located at 1 Keong Saik Road, Singapore 089109, p. 6222 3623. Open Mon-Sat 6pm-12am.
Tanjong Beach Club’s First Menu Refresh
Since it opened in 2010, Tanjong Beach Club (TBC) has been dishing out hearty food, tropical cocktails, and good vibes. Recently, they’ve upped their beach culture game with new offerings in collaboration with Chef Jason Jones, Director of Culinary Operations of The Loco Group. Look forward to seafood dishes like the Lobster Burger ($38), which features half a lobster dressed in lime mayo in between toasted bun topped with black sesame seeds, accentuating the sweetness of the lobster, a succulent Barbecued Octopus Salad ($23), and the Market Fresh Fish of the Day ($35).
You can’t visit TBC without a cocktail or two, so try our favourites – the zesty aperitif In Love With The Coco ($21, tequila, coconut, cucumber, hazelnut, pineapple) and Rum My Lemons ($21, rum, yuzu, lemon sorbet, vanilla & orange syrup).
Tanjong Beach Club is located at 120 Tanjong Beach Walk, Singapore 098942, p. 9750 5323. Open Tue-Fri 11am-10pm, Sat-Sun 10am-11pm. Closed Mon.
