It’s that time of the year again for the sweet and succulent pastries we call mooncakes! Though primarily a fixture for Chinese Singaporeans, anyone of any race and background can partake, because let’s face it: who doesn’t love these sweet mounds of goodness? From traditional baked lotus seed paste and salted egg yolk variants to the more ambitious (think durian, peanut butter, and even Champagne), we pick out the best restaurants and F&B establishments in Singapore for mooncakes this Mid-Autumn Festival.
Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel
Aside from dishing out exquisite Cantonese fare, Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel’s Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant also produces some pretty amazing mooncakes. Surprising your taste buds this year are the premium Coconut Paste with Hazelnuts Baked Mooncakes ($78 for four), making a sharp deviation from the traditional lotus seed paste, as well as White Chocolate with Apricot and Honey Lemon Lotus Paste with Lychee Martini Truffle mini snowskin mooncakes (both $63 for eight).
If you’re looking for a gift, how do Salted White Lotus Seed Paste Mooncake with Parma Ham, Pistachios, and Single Yolk Baked Mooncakes sound? Each limited edition box comes with a 375ml bottle of Perrier Jouët Champagne for the ultimate Mid-Autumn decadence.
Promotions: Up to 30% off for orders* made by 19 Sep, and up to 15% off for orders* made by 4 Oct. *Not applicable for Premium Gift Sets.
Available at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel from now to 4 Oct 2017. For orders, please click here or call +65 6831 4708.
Dean & DeLuca
Mooncakes from an American grocery chain might sound surprising, but trust us when we say Dean & DeLuca’s traditional baked mooncakes are comparable to some of Singapore’s best. The first of the lot, the White Lotus Macadamia ($68 for four), balances the mild sweetness of the paste with the crunch of fresh nuts, while the Maple Walnut ($72 for four) combines premium maple syrup with yes, walnuts – an interesting Western twist. There is also the classic Single ($68 for four) and Double Yolk ($72 for four) with special white lotus paste renditions, encased in a perfectly baked crust. Definitely worth a try if you’re looking for something new this year.
Promotions: 15% off all orders made before 10 Sep.
Due to overwhelming demand, orders are now closed for Dean & Deluca.
The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore
New to the Summer Pavilion selection this year is the White Lotus Seed Paste with Five Grains ($72 for four) mooncake, a classic amongst the older folks, though this variation presents an even healthier and nuttier option with the use of pumpkin seeds, oats, and sesame seeds. As for the signature Assorted Mini Snowskin Martini ($72 for eight) mooncakes, there are now two new novel flavours: the Mangotini and Orangetini. Back by popular demand is the Mini Custard Lava ($78 for eight) with vanilla and salted egg yolk, which we hear was one of the first flavours to sell out last year.
Promotions: For online orders, 20% off baked mooncakes (excluding Mini Custard Lava) and 15% all snowskin mooncakes (including Mini Custard Lava) until 3 Sep.
Available from Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore Lobby from 4 Sep to 4 Oct 2017. For orders, please click here or call +65 6434 5190. See here for a list of mooncake booth locations.
Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium
The health-conscious can rejoice with Xin Cuisine’s new snowskin flavours of Low Sugar Red Lotus Seed Paste with Peanut Praline and the fruity Low Sugar White Lotus Seed Paste with Banana Apricot Praline (both $58 for six), where the sweetness of banana combines with the faint tartness of apricots. Plus, the perennial favourite Peranakan Durian ($68 for four) is expectedly back with its blue-pea flower coloured snowskin and luxurious durian fillings – understated and overwhelmingly fragrant.
Promotions: 30% off all orders made by 31 August 2017. Complimentary tin of Dilmah T-series Mini Caddy Sencha Green Extra Special with minimum purchase of two boxes of mooncakes.

InterContinental Singapore
Making its debut at Man Fu Yuan this year is the Garden Collection, featuring four beautiful snowkin mooncakes inspired by botanicals, and carved in the shape of blooming flowers: Roselle and Red Date; Rosemary, Almond and Green Tea; Rose and Pistachio; and Pandan and Macadamia ($72 for one of each flavour). The first especially stands out for its use of smoky red date filling, which makes for a refreshing change from the typical lotus seed paste – a bold move, we must say.

But perhaps the most popular remains the signature Baked Mooncake with Mixed Nuts and Jamón Ibérico ($75 for four), offering a medley of sweet and savoury flavours in every bite.

On the snowskin end, there is the Kopi with Salted Hokkaido Milk and Tangerine Lemon and Pistachio, while baked variants see an immensely fragrant Pandan with Coconut and Salted Taro with Peanut Butter that brings to mind a truckload of familiar tastes. Tell us you’re not salivating yet!

How does a mooncake with decadent custard centre and slivers of premium bird’s nest sound? That is Regent Hotel’s limited edition Bird’s Nest with Custard ($135 for eight), sure to impress even the most luxurious. More down to earth, turn your eyes towards two new spiced snowskin creations (both $69 for eight): Pineapple Pink Peppercorn and Cinnamon Red Bean, which boasts a chilli-infused powdery skin encasing a tangy pineapple paste and chocolate pearl core; and Cinnamon Red Bean with Spiced Wine – more mellow with its earthy red bean composition, though a surprise awaits with the spiced wine ganache.
