Wife #11 by World-In-Theatre

World-In-Theatre presents Wife #11, a play by Desmond Sim (Autumn Tomyam, The Swimming Instructor) about a towkay and his newest wife in post-war Singapore as they jostle to negotiate their way together through a tumultuous relationship on the eve of Singapore’s transformation into a modern nation that will no longer tolerate polygamy.

First staged at the National Museum of Singapore with Tan Kheng Hua and Casey Lim in February 2009, the play draws attention to a little-known aspect of Singapore’s history: the advent of the Women’s Charter which outlaws polygamy, a move that was instigated by its first Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew. This time round, Amy Cheng joins forces with Sonny Lim in this engaging and touching play.

Wife #11 is running from 26 to 28 February 2016, 3pm & 8pm at The Art House. Tickets are priced at $35, and are available at EventNook.
