Help Support Australia’s Fire Fight

Put some of that ang pao money to good use this month and pitch in the Aussie’s firefighting efforts. In collaboration with Kilo Kitchen and Collectius, festival organisers Green Is The New Black will be holding the Aussie Bushfire Fundraiser over the Australia Day weekend where all funds raised will be entirely donated to aid affected communities and wildlife rescue efforts. Each ticket entitles you to a four-course vegetarian feast, drag entertainment by Lykkie Liquor and Mona Kee Kee, three complimentary drinks, and more.

One Night Only with Que Sakamoto

Tokyo-born DJ, producer, and founding member of the Huit Etoiles collective, Que Sakamoto takes a breather from relentless continental tours around the world to run a one-night-only pit stop at late-night Japanese bar Tempura Oji. With his roots still firmly planted in his hometown of Tokyo, expect an eclectic fusion of Japanese and Euro-folk music, finished with a touch of disco to lighten the mood. Sakamoto will also be playing at the Subsonic Music Festival and Wonderfruit in December this year.

One Night Only with Que Sakamoto is happening on 24 January 2020, 9pm-1am, at Tempura Oji, 51 Kreta Ayer Rd, Singapore 089008, p. +65 9142 8366. Tickets are S$15 each and come with a complimentary drink.

Friends of Manhattan Series: Katana Kitten

Manhattan brings back their Friends of Manhattan series for 2020, starting with New York City’s Japanese-American fusion concept: Katana Kitten. What do you get when the precision and whimsy of Tokyo’s best bars and izakayas meets West Village hospitality? According the World’s 50 Best Bars, Best New Opening and number 14 on the awards’ annual ranking. Head Bartender Masahiro Urushido will guest shift at Manhattan to chase away your midweek blues, so don’t miss out.

Bennett Bay’s Little Old Town EP Launch

Singapore-based musician Bennett Bay has steadily made his mark all over the local arts scene. Inspired by a recent trip to Japan, Bennett lends his unique brand of acoustic music in the launch of his three-song EP: Little Old Town. Join him and his seven-piece band at the Esplanade to hear the entire launch live, complemented with a mixture of old and (even) newer tunes.

Share the Charitable Spirit at the SO/Pool Party

This weekend, enjoy poolside views and drink specials for a cause; head up to the 1927 Rooftop Bar at SO Sofitel for their first pool party of 2020. In support of the ESA Animal Shelter, all proceeds from door sales and sales of Tito’s Handmade Vodka will go directly to a charitable cause. With eight DJ’s commanding the airspace over eight hours, the lineup for the night brings deep house grooves from the best in the industry, including Jamie React from Tropic Lab, Aman Anand, and Sivanesh of CÉ LA VI.
