7 Upcoming Queer Events To Celebrate Pride Month in Singapore – Films, Balls, Raves & Drag Shows

Pride Month is finally here and along with it comes parties, laughs, and loads of glitter! This year, Singapore is not shying away from toasting and celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community. Here’s how to paint the town ‘pink’ with these entertaining queer-friendly events all throughout June.

Sago House: Jack-Pink In Your Area

Before any good celebration, comes a few too many cocktails and delicious food. Just ahead of celebrating its third birthday, Sago House has announces new late-night hours alongside a newly revamped food menu, including bites like Pre-Game Sandwich (S$19), Mash Balls (S$14), Pig’s Head Nuggets (S$18) and Spring Rolls (S$18).  Celebrating pride month and Pink Dot SG , the award-winning cocktail destination will also be offering a special addition to Sago House’s weekly rotating cocktail menu. The bright and refreshing Jack-Pink In Your Area (S$22) pairs Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple with pink guava, raspberry, Rinquinquin Aperitif and Fake Lime.

Bussy Temple: Father’s Womb

Known for their queer raves, Bussy Temple presents Father’s Womb, set to take place on 17 June 2023. Featuring an all queer and gender non-conforming lineup, the collective celebrates all folks who do not find themselves settled on a single identity. Expect DJ sets by international artists like Berlin-based DANCE DIVINE, UK-based Sayang, Australia-based halalbutch, and local acts like howrøng, and soyf§g, as well as light installations by Alina Ling. Come dolled up to the rave, or participate in the sanctuary activities prior to the party, to get ready, re-energise, and pre-party at the space. Toilets and mirrors will be available for dressing up with limited make up available for use.

RIOT! Hosted by Becca D’Bus

Hold on tight, your world is getting turned around and shaken to completely new one. What would this world look like if it came entirely from the imagination of drag performers? Who knows? But RIOT! comes close. Hosted by Becca D’Bus, Singapore’s biggest drag queen, get ready to have a glamorous, sexy and hilariously good time. Besides, Becca D’ Bus, get ready to be entertained by some of the best drag performers in the game including Kak Nina Boo, Lana Jiao, Lychee Bye, Mizz Koko and Mona Kee Kee.

RIOT! Hosted by Becca D’Bus runs on 17 June 2023 at Hard Rock Café, 50 Cuscaden Road, Hpl House #02-01 Singapore, from 10pm-11.45pm. Tickets are priced from S$15.

Pink Screen at The Projector

Presented by NBCUniversal, Pink Screen at The Projector is an annual LGBTQ+ film festival and an official Pink Fest signature event. The event features a series of film screenings that showcase the talent, struggles and victories of the LGBTQ community across different countries and cultures. Highlights include Happy Together (1997) exploring a travelling couple locked in a turbulent cycle of infatuation and destructive jealousy, as well as Joyland (2022), a Pakistani curation that challenges patriarchal societal perceptions.

Pink Dot SG 2023

It wouldn’t be a list of queer events in Singapore without mentioning the must-attend Pink Dot SG. For its 15th edition, Singapore’s landmark LGBTQ+ rally, returns to Hong Lim Park. This time, expect a night-time formation and mainstays like the Pink Dot Concert, speeches and community tents. Held for the first time since the repeal of Section 377A, Pink Dot SG 15 will showcase and celebrate the families of LGBTQ+ people in all their diversity and affirm that they too, deserve a place in Singapore this year. Expect discussions, musical and dance performances, and loads of community-building acts.

Pink Dot SG 15 runs on 24 June 2023 at Hong Lim Park, New Bridge Rd, Singapore 059299, from 4pm onwards. Admission is free. The event is only open to Singaporeans and PRs. 

Vogue in Progress presents PINKI KIKI BALL 2.0

Get ready to twirl, eat, and serve – Vogue in Progress (VIP) presents its PINKI KIKI BALL after a successful sold-out Pinki Kiki Ball & The Crystal Ball last year. In conjunction with Pink Fest 2023, PINKI KIKI BALL 2.0 will celebrate kiki ballroom culture, our colourful community and all its talented fabulousness for Pride Month. The showcase is a bound to be a rainbow melting extravaganza that allows attendees to show off their true colours – whether that means unforgettable outfits or hot dance category battles.

BABY QUEEN & Family Live X Qabaret

Head down toThe Projector @ Golden Mile Tower on 30 June 2023 to become part of history as Singapore’s first-ever feature film about drag makes its way to the silver screen. The BABY QUEEN documentary portrays the everyday life of a young drag queen, and is a testament to the social attitudes towards the queer community in contemporary Singapore. Brace yourself for a live drag show and Q&A session with the dazzling cast including Opera Tang, Victoria Wondersnatch, Honey Gluttony, Sissy Sucktits, Sassy Sucktits and Miss Nee J. Reaxtion.
