Now in its 14th year, Singapore’s longest-running boutique shopping event, Boutique Fairs Singapore, will return to the F1 Pit Building this November with over 23,000 sq. ft. of shopping options. Themed ‘Share the Love,’ the two-day shopping extravaganza will host over 120 Singapore-based, homegrown businesses across the areas of women’s and men’s fashion and accessories, home and decor, and children’s apparel, toys, and accessories. With an emphasis on design-led and socially responsible businesses, the biannual event gives shoppers an opportunity to support quality, ethically-produced products while also backing several Singapore-based charities. Over 85% of vendors at this edition are socially responsible businesses.
Founded in 2002 by Danish artist and long-time Singapore resident Charlotte Cain, Boutique Fairs Singapore leads the pack with its distinctive set-up and concept. The fair embraces a holistic approach to the shopping experience, stressing each vendor’s open-concept, sophisticated set-up. From teak shelving and ambient lighting to persian rugs and and chaise lounges, each ‘booth’ is transformed into a mini-boutique for shoppers to browse.
Overview
Since its inception, Boutique Fairs Singapore has championed giving back by supporting various charities, including HOME and the Netherlands Charity Association. For the first time ever, the event will implement an optional entrance donation, with all proceeds will going towards a local charity supporting women and children. Billed as a one-stop shop for the season of giving, shopaholics and their weary counterparts can put their feet up at the central lounge area for a mani by The Nail Social, or satiate their hunger with nutritious meals provided by homegrown outfit Cedele Bakery Cafe.
An affordable selection of fine wine by Drink! is also available for purchase, while coffee by Workspace Espresso Bar will be available on a donation basis. In line with its ’boutique’ set-up, the lounge area will also be dressed up by Make Room with furniture provided by Originals. Interior design workshops and talks by local designers will also take place at the lounge – itinerary details will be published online closer to the date of the event.
Vendor highlights
There’s plenty to choose from for the kids. Little girls will adore Madie Moo, which carries the beloved and highly popular bohemian clothing line Coco and Ginger, while the boys can score style points at Baby Style Icon, co-founded by Tjin Lee and blogger Xiaxue. For gender-neutral gifts, Domestic Objects offers handmade teepees and play tents to encourage creative and imaginative play.
The range of women’s fashion and accessories runs the gamut from swimwear to cashmere scarves. Gift ideas include the successful and popular Hong Kong line Mischa, renowned for their hexagon print tote bags and accessories; intricate statement jewellery by Maria-Xuan made from buffalo horn; handcrafted cashmere and silk scarves from Ayesha Cashmere, which combines the art of traditionally-loomed products with contemporary design; and ethically-mined gemstone jewellery by Elverd Designs. Resort wear from Bali-based Mist clothing and statement swimwear from famed Danish brand, Nordic Krag, also make great gift ideas for the sunlover or perpetual vacationer.
Boutique Fairs Singapore is proud to add local gentlemen’s favourite, Vanda Fine Clothing, to the power-packed line-up. The men’s accessories label joins evergreen panama hat outfitter, Hat of Cain, and multi-story boutique Italic & Bold, which carries a range of men’s and women’s accessories, including popular US line Izola. Also in the local camp is homegrown boutique threadbare & squirrel and their range of international and local clothing and
accessories labels, including local jewellery line Saught and Malaysian designer Cassey Gan.
In addition to the vendors’ existing collections, Boutiques is also proud to be a platform for new product launches. Darsala Jewellery will be launching a line of vintage-inspired handbags, drawing on the geometry of the sixties and seventies. Jasper Living, a contemporary womenswear line, will also be launching a new bag line in partnership with Italian bag designer Maria La Rosa and French bag designer Marieta Cox.
Furniture and home accessories continue to headline Boutique Fairs. Returning vendor Shiva Designs Bespoke, which exclusively retails cult OZ brand Bonnie & Neil, will be joined by new vendor Souq, a Bali-based lifestyle emporium. Also new to Boutique Fairs Singapore are Lampelier, a bespoke lampshade boutique; Little Red Dot Cushions, Singapore-inspired cushions and soft furnishings, and Let’s Stay In, with a range of furniture, home accessories, and highly giftable DIY gifts from LA line MakersKit.
