Wine lovers, this one is for you! California Wine Month makes its debut in Singapore this June. Top restaurants and retailers in town are jumping on board the Golden State bandwagon, to raise awareness of Californian wines at this first-ever food and wine festival.
Known for wines of exceptional quality, the state of California is the leading winemaking region in the United States. And while Napa Valley is perhaps the best known Californian wine appellation, increasingly wines from the many other AVAs (American Viticultural Areas) of its total of 143 across California are gaining renown as well.
This California Wine Month, Singaporeans will be able to explore the wonders of California wine. From 1 June to 10 July 2022, participating venues will be putting California wines up front and centre. These on-premise venues include Rosemead, La Dame de Pic, Shang Palace, and Lawry’s The Prime Rib Singapore.
For example, modern Californian restaurant Rosemead’s principal sommelier Marcus Tan has curated a flight featuring wines from highly-lauded AVAs including Napa Valley, Russian River Valley, and Paso Robles that highlight produces Cruse Wine Co, Deloach, Kistler, and If You See Kay.
Whimsical French restaurant La Dame de Pic will showcase choice Californian labels with its newly-launched summer menu as put together by sommelier Justin Wee. Over at Shangri-La Singapore, group sommelier Britt Ng is offering a wine flight – featuring iconic AVAs such as Anderson Valley, Knights Valley, and Rutherford – that will be available at Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant Shang Palace and western grill house Origin Grill & Bar. Think producers like Peter Michael Winery and Cakebread Cellars.
Aside from these venues, there will also be an array of California wines on offer off-trade at RedMart and FairPrice.
California Wine Month runs till 10 July 2022 in Singapore. For more details and reservations, please contact the participating restaurants directly.
