CATO

Whipping up various contemporary Asian-inspired European delights, CATO is the latest bistro to pop up on the thoroughfares of Chinatown. Situated directly opposite the vibrant Sri Mariamman Temple, this two-storey establishment splits itself into a dining area on the first floor and a dive bar on the second level, with dim lights cascading a soft glow over the confines of both zones. While the food generally failed to excite, we were extremely impressed by the wide variety of premium spirits and rare craft beers. Plus, their happy hour prices ($8 for a dram of Macallan) are an absolute steal. That being said, we wouldn’t rule out an improvement in the kitchen as well!

When Joel’s not partaking in one of his shameless eating sessions, he likes to think of himself as a sponge – absorbing the mysteries and beauty of our world – be it through a good book or a wacky jaunt in a foreign country.
