Gedong Kirtya Library and Museum

Gedong Kirtya library was founded in 1928 by the Dutch. It houses a collection of ‘lontar manuscripts’ which are on dried leaves of palm. They are about mythology, history, religion and date back to the 13th century. There are also documents from the colonial period 1901-1953.
