From Corporate Burnout to Holistic Coaching

City Nomads: Elika, your work focuses on energy optimization and lifestyle strategies. Can you share the personal experiences that shaped your approach?

Elika: My journey began with my experience in the corporate world, where I spent over a decade in HR and recruitment. I was managing finance teams, working with CFOs and finance directors—a very data-driven, logical environment. After 11 years, I hit my first burnout. That was a pivotal moment. I turned to diet and exercise, working with a personal trainer who introduced me to the science behind food and macros. This fascination led me to study nutrition.

Leaving the corporate world to open a health-focused restaurant felt like a purposeful move. However, despite pursuing something I loved, I encountered my second burnout. Managing staffing issues and the daily pressures of running a business overwhelmed me. It was during this time of reflection—spending time with indigenous cultures and learning from their wisdom—that I realised how vital energy management is. It wasn’t just about physical health; emotional and mental energy played an equally significant role.

CN: What was the defining moment that helped you connect the dots?

Elika: The second burnout was the defining moment. I realised that despite focusing on nutrition and exercise, I was only addressing the surface. Emotions are energy in motion. To truly optimise energy, I needed to understand the interplay between the physical, emotional, and mental layers of our being. That’s when I began integrating concepts from quantum physics, evolutionary biology, and holistic coaching.

The Science and Ancient Wisdom Behind Energy Optimisation

CN: How do ancient practices and modern science inform your methodology?

Elika: Many of today’s health trends—like fermented foods or turmeric lattes—are rooted in practices that cultures have upheld for centuries. Ayurveda’s golden milk, for example, was a staple long before it became a trend in cafes. Evolutionary biology shows us that our modern stress responses are outdated mechanisms from an era of survival. By combining this knowledge with principles from quantum physics, I help clients understand that their energy field—what some may call their aura—can be influenced by both external factors and internal narratives.

How Energy and Emotional Intelligence Impact Productivity

CN: You mention energy as a cornerstone of your practice. How do you address skepticism from clients who come from logical, data-driven backgrounds?

Elika: Many of my clients work in high-level corporate roles, where everything is measured by data. When I introduce concepts like energy and emotional intelligence, I use scientific frameworks. Quantum physics explains how everything, including our bodies, vibrates at certain frequencies. Neuroscience supports this through studies on brain wave activity and emotional regulation. When I explain things in these terms, it becomes more relatable.

CN: What common misconceptions do people have about energy and productivity?

Elika: One major misconception is that energy comes solely from food. While nutrition plays a role, our energy is also influenced by our environment and emotional states. Toxic work environments or unfulfilling relationships can drain us more than skipping a meal. By identifying what depletes and restores energy, clients can make more empowered choices.

CN: Can you share a practical tip for optimising energy?

Elika: A simple yet effective practice is to start the day by tuning into your body. Upon waking, drink water with lemon to support detoxification. Engage in some form of movement—even gentle stretching—to stimulate circulation. Avoid checking your phone first thing in the morning. By creating space for yourself before interacting with the external world, you set a grounded, intentional tone for the day.

Practical Tools for Energy Management: Human Design, Plant Medicine, and Healy

CN: You’ve mentioned Human Design as a key tool in your coaching. What is it, and how does it support your work?

Elika: Human Design is a system that combines ancient wisdom—like the I Ching, Kabbalah, and the Hindu chakra system—with modern sciences such as quantum physics and genetics. It provides a personalized blueprint of your energetic makeup. By understanding their Human Design, my clients gain clarity on their unique strengths and decision-making processes. This knowledge empowers them to live in alignment with their authentic selves rather than societal expectations.

CN: You’ve also explored plant medicine. How has that influenced your perspective?

Elika: My experience with Ayahuasca was life-changing. It allowed me to experience an interconnectedness with everything around me—people, nature, even inanimate objects. This heightened state of awareness underscored the importance of emotional and energetic connection. It’s difficult to put into words, but the essence of that experience informs how I guide clients to reconnect with their intuition and emotional intelligence.

CN: You mentioned working with Healy, a wearable device. How does it fit into your approach?

Elika: The Healy device uses micro-currents to harmonize the body’s energy field. It can measure and address imbalances in physical, emotional, and mental layers by emitting specific frequencies. It’s a game-changer because it combines the diagnostic capabilities of traditional bioresonance technology with wearable convenience. For example, if a client experiences anxiety, the Healy can run programs that emit frequencies to help regulate their nervous system.

Breakthrough Moments and Challenges in Coaching

CN: Can you share an example of a breakthrough moment with a client?

Elika: I had a client who worked in real estate and struggled with liver damage from alcohol use, exacerbated by work-related stress and disconnection from his family. He sought purpose but felt trapped by his circumstances. Through our work, he traced the root of his stress to early life trauma, stemming from a difficult relationship with his stepfather. Once he confronted and reframed these experiences, he found the courage to realign his life. He moved closer to his family, secured a new role, and improved his relationship with his wife and child. The transformation was profound.

CN: What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a coach?

Elika: One of the hardest moments was when a client who had experienced significant trauma decided not to continue our work. I felt she wasn’t ready to coach others yet and needed deeper personal healing. It was tough because I could see her potential, but the timing wasn’t right. It reinforced the importance of meeting people where they are in their journey.

What’s Next: Elika’s Collaboration with City Nomads

CN: What do you hope to achieve in your collaboration with City Nomads?

Elika: I aim to make complex wellness concepts accessible and actionable for a broader audience. City Nomads has a unique reach and understanding of its readers. Together, we can bridge the gap between where people are and where they want to be by offering insights that inspire real, lasting change.

CN: Finally, what message would you like purpose-driven professionals to take away from this conversation?

Elika: Energy is your most valuable currency. By nurturing your physical, emotional, and mental energy, you create a ripple effect that influences your work, relationships, and overall sense of purpose. True productivity and success come from within.
