Review: Is The Prawn Star Duxton’s new restaurant star?

Over the past 3 years, Duxton Hill and Road has quickly turned from a hotbed of dodgy KTV bars to one of trendy bars and restaurants.

One of the new entrants is the cheekily named ‘Prawn Star’. Unsurprisingly seafood plays a great role on their menu, although I’d describe their fare a playful Aussie cuisine with a splash of Asian flair.

An example of this can be seen in their Sriracha Caramel Corn and the Grilled King Prawns with Kimchi-Miso Butter. Generous portions and a unique flavour profile, particularly with the prawns.

The Prawn Star also keep a healthy supply of market fish so I decided to give their grilled red snapper a try. At $28 was very fairly priced for the area and the portion was decent. As for the fish, granted it was a little slow to come out, it was tender with a salt, crispy skin and came with a strange, yet enjoyable side of cold pak choi with a sweet dressing. Quite delicious for a healthy lunch.

Filling the former venue Broth’s shoes is not going to be easy, but they’re definitely off to a good start. Good, clean and well-priced food in a very sexy location.

So which is your favourite restaurant in Duxton?
