Ahhh spas and pampering.. what’s not to love? With more and more spas and beauticians popping up across the city it’s hard to choose where to get your pampering fix. But if it’s that pristine, Japanese-skin glow you’re looking for; and authentic treatments in a soothing, hassle-free, professional environment, then head on over to the new branch of Ikeda Spa, Ikeda Spa Prestige, located in a quiet nook of Central at Clarke Quay. It’s a difficult one to find, so make sure you get specific directions, but after the hunt is up you’ll find yourself in a den of relaxation and tranquility.
We went along to check out some of their treatments and here’s what we found..
For something to unwind and revitalise we opted for the 60 minute Zen Music Therapy ($180) paired with a 30 minute Green Tea Anti-Aging Wrap ($80 as an add-on). Zen music therapy, for those of you new to it, is the soft sound of flutes and traditional instruments played in sync with the movements of the therapist (via a contraption tied to the therapist) meaning each experience is unique and the timely music makes the massage that extra bit more soothing than usual.
As far as the body wrap goes, if you’re worried about lying there covered in green tea mix, unable to move and needing to scratch, well it’s not quite as sticky and uncomfortable as you might think. By the time the wrap is in place, it’s only left on for a further 10 minutes before peeling off to reveal smoother, baby-like skin.
The Maiko Organic Facial (60mins, $160 per pax) is an absolute delight with fragrant and soothing, lotions and potions being applied and removed, applied and removed until you’ve entirely lost track and are so relaxed from all that caressing and facial massaging that you’re at an all-time zen high. The results were superb with this Nomad’s face positively aglow with a refreshed, healthy vigour.
If you and your loved one are in serious need of some couple downtime, book yourselves into the tatami VIP couple suite, where you can luxuriate in your own Private Hinoki Bath (30mins, $80 per pax) complete with a view of the Singapore river, before indulging in a massage in the privacy of the very same suite. The perfect way to escape the madness of the outside world, plus we loved the complimentary sushi which was served to us in-room to round off the whole indulgent experience.
