This March, the London Sinfonietta makes its way to Singapore for a one-night-only concert with the living legend Steve Reich himself, who turns 80 in October, performing his celebrated Clapping Music and Music for 18 Musicians, as well as his more recent works, Electric Counterpoint for the electric guitar and tape, and Radio Rewrite, inspired by the music of Radiohead.
The biggest draw of Steve Reich’s music is its immediacy despite its complexity. Called ‘the most original musical thinker of our time’ (The New Yorker), Reich is one of the key pioneers of minimalism, and undoubtedly one of the most influential composers of today.
Don’t miss this chance to catch ‘the most original musical thinker of our time’ (The New Yorker) in action! Get a first-hand experience of the transcendental rhythms, pulses and phasing that made the legend that is Steve Reich.
London Sinfonietta with Steve Reich is happening on Thursday, 17 March 2016, 7.30pm at Esplanade. Tickets are priced at $78, $58*, $38* (limited concessions for students, seniors and NSFs: $50*, $30*), and available at SISTIC.
