The National University of Singapore (NUS) will mark the close of its year-long 110th anniversary celebrations with a concert at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, our country’s first UNESCO World Heritage site!
Pack your picnic baskets and join them at this very special event as the NUS Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Orchestra performs an array of rousing orchestral works for the family. Presented by principal conductor Jason Lai, the concert will open with Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture followed by selections from Dvorak’s invigorating New World Symphony and Mozart’s Violin Concerto performed by NUS alumnus and one of Singapore’s top violinists, Loh Jun Hong. Then travel through the magical world of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with John Williams’ orchestral suite from Harry Potter. Tchaikovsky’s ‘Waltz of the Flowers’ from The Nutcracker Suite will wrap up the repertoire of music.
Local instrumental band and Conservatory alumni The Lorong Boys, as well as magicians and balloon sculptors, will provide pre-concert entertainment from 5.00pm to keep the little ones entertained!
NUS110 Concert In The Park is happening on Saturday, 28 November 2015 at Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage, Botanic Gardens from 5pm to 7pm. Admission is free.
