Conceived by four youths in 2012 during their final year in Nanyang Technological University, See and Be Seen was held as Singapore’s first ever night cycling safety initiative. In partnership with organisers of a regional charity ride – Firefly Night Race – the 2013 edition saw close to 500 cyclists participating in its cause of encouraging cyclists to be properly equipped for night cycling and a group of Special Olympians joining in the cause.
Now spearheaded by organisers of the Firefly Night Race, See and Be Seen 2014 targets to amass double the cyclists for a 84km safe night cycling ride using mainly the park connectors from East Coast Park to Changi, onto Loyang, Tampines and northwards, looping at Punggol area. This year, See and Be Seen’s special cause is looking at educating the foreign workers from the construction industry to ride safely at night.
