Ok, so I know the title is cheesy but it’s just so perfect! Smitten is one of those places I always visit when, for some reason or another I don’t have my camera…hence me taking so long to get around to writing about this absolute gem of a coffee shop.
Unless you live in Robertson Quay or are a total coffee and tea addict, you may not have heard of Smitten. Well, it’s time to let the cat out of the bag…
Hand on heart, I rate Smitten’s coffee as one of my personal top 5 best coffees in Singapore.
But it’s not just the coffee that I like about Smitten, it’s much more. Aside from the fact that the guys and gals who run the place are super lovely, they’re also really passionate about their products. In fact, you may or may not remember a very cool Oolong Tea appreciation class listed on our site a while back.
Yes, the coffee here is badass, but if you’re more tea-inclined you can find some of the best freshly-brewed Japanese and Chinese tea in this fair city. They even have ‘tea appreciation tasting notes’ to help you select your brew.
And as for this, they definitely look for quality over quantity. It’s a small menu but you basically can’t go wrong with any of their cakes and sweets.
The Chocolate Brownie ($6.50) covered in peanut-butter is a personal fave of mine. You know when you slide your fork through a brownie and you just feel that it’s going to be soft, squishy deliciousness! Well that’s what you get here. Definitely some of the best brownies in town.
And if you’re more cupcake inclined, come, come. It’s $3.80 for 1 or $10 for 3, and like their brownies, the cupcakes are something special. Thick, moist and packed with flavour. Give the red velvet and chocolate varieties a try.
Another scrumptious cake worth your hard-earned mulla is the Honest Chocolate Cake for $7. With a soft, fluffy mousse filling, lined with dark chocolate, the hazelnut cookie base works in perfect contrast to make this cake a winner. Perfect with your cuppa.
Smitten is a simple place, excellent coffee and deliciously good cakes, with just a couple of long benches inside and a few tables outside -thereby making it doggie-friendly. It’s a great place to have your afternoon coffee (or tea) fix to keep you going for the rest of the day.
