Truffle fans, we have the best news: Sweetzerland Chocolate Geneve has opened its first boutique outside of Switzerland at Mandarin Gallery in Singapore.
As you can tell from the punny name, they’re offering the best of centuries-old Swiss chocolate tradition. And having tried these handcrafted (by 7 Master Chocolatiers in and around Geneva) chocolates ourselves, we can tell you they’re worth every penny you spend.
Made solely from the best Grand Cru cacao beans from South America (Venezuela, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, and Bolivia), the Truffles ($5 per piece, minimum 4 pieces) are flown in weekly and are kept at the perfect temperature and humidity in a specially built counter. Lush, creamy, and rich. It’s evident that there aren’t any preservatives, hydrogenated fats, or palm oil in these delicious morsels. Our favourites out of the 18 varieties on offer are definitely the liquor ones like Whisky and Champagne, and the classic 70% Dark Chocolate. Other flavours we also liked include the Almond Heart, Forest Honey, and Salted Caramel Butter.
If you’d like to try something else beside the truffles and have a serious love for dark chocolate as well as coffee, the 70% dark chocolate covered roasted Coffee Beans ($40, 100g) pack serious punch. Otherwise, the chewy and utterly delicious 66% dark chocolate Caramel ($40, 100g) will do the trick.
We can also foresee the Tablets Grand Cru ($25, 100g) – basically 6 different types of chocolate bars ranging from white chocolate (35% cocoa from the Ivory Coast) to really dark chocolate (a whopping 80% cocoa from Venezuela) – selling like hotcakes ’cause they’re a right remedy for bad days in life.
So…pricey? Definitely. But in this day and age where better-than-good chocolate is indeed a luxury, it might be good to indulge now and then.
