The Earl of Hindh: Royally delicious Indian cuisine

Indian cuisine has to be one of my favourites, and strangely enough considering how international the culinary landscape in Singapore is, good North Indian food is surprisingly difficult to find. Making the ‘long’ journey to Sentosa Cove and the newly developed Quayside Isle, I visited Earl of Hindh with high hopes and a stomach ready to be filled.

Being a total tandoori nut, I was pleased to start with a very impressive tasting size selection including Shahi Chop ($42), Chicken Kakhori Kebab ($44), Jingha Jane Dam ($38), and the Malai Kebab($28).

The tandoori dishes here are superb. Their special Kakhori was fantastically soft – you barely need teeth to bite into it. Not too surprising when you find out it’s been marinated for 30 hours or more. The Jingha Jane was also very impressive – for prawns, they were unbelievably soft with a beautiful crispy charcoal outer layer. The crowing glory however was their Shai Chop (shown in the forefront of the photo top left). Just amazing. Soft, tender mutton falling right off the bone and coated in an incredible spicy rub infused with that beautiful tandoori charcoal taste.

With an excellent start, we moved onto a selection of curries, rice and naans. To say that the quality of the food was good is a total understatement. Every dish exceeded my expectations. It was not just expertly made but also comes in sizeable portions perfect for sharing between friends and family.

The Saag Ghosht ($34) was a particular favourite. Creamy, soft spinach with chunks of tender, flavoursome lamb. Lapping up the morsels with their delicious naan made a perfect ‘sandwich’. That being said, the Dhaba Chicken Curry ($30) and fantastically creamy Daal ($16) are wonderful to soak into your rice.

Service-wise, Earl of Hindh also hits the mark – attentive, responsive, yet not intrusive. Exactly how it should be. As for prices, while Earl of Hindh may seem expensive, once your food starts to arrive you will see you are being well fed for your cash, and you definitely won’t go home hungry – that my friends is guaranteed.

If you want to experience Earl of Hindh the best way, come in a group of at least four and order like Kings… or Earls I should say. Enjoy the sunset and some fine Scotch Single Malt whiskies while you’re at it.

On this occasion the meal was compliments of Earl of Hindh

When not rambling his way around Singapore on discovery-mode, he likes to hang out with friends, cook, make experimental cocktails and attempt handstands during yoga.
