There’s never a bad time to treat yourself to an indulgent meal, and with the flurry of elevated cuisine in Singapore’s food scene, there may be no time like the present. Step into a different culture with Japanese food fairs and a wordly afternoon tea experience, splurge on a luxurious omakase, and enjoy some of the best fine dining in the nation.
Experience Fukushima
Prior to the Great East Japan Earthquake, Fukushima was known for its succulent seafood and smooth sake – and it’s time for that recognition to return. Support businesses affected still by the major tragedy and try some fresh Salted Grilled Mackerel, flavourful large conger eels, and sample the treasure trove of sake at the free tasting event in Tanjong Pagar.
Fukushima Food Fair runs 1 to 30 Nov 2022, 2pm to 7pm at the Japan Rail Cafe, 5 Wallich St, #01 – 20 Guoco Tower, Singapore 078883, p. +65 6385 5422.
Not Your Average Omakase
Omakase often comes with a shroud of tradition. Sushi Ichizuke is here to change that, pushing the norm with their ‘vibe-dining omakase’, and now with new lunch and dinner menus that do much of the same. On the menu, expect kombu-marinated Lobster Sashimi, fresh Aburi Bosushi, and an indulgent Uni and Ikura Rice Bowl in their Awayuki (7-piece sushi) and Suisen (10-piece sushi and a cooked dish) corporate menus priced at S$200++ and S$250++ respectively.
Sushi Ichizuke is located at 3E River Valley Road #02-02, Clarke Quay, The Cannery, Singapore 179024, p. +65 9489 8357. Open Tue-Sun 12pm-1:30pm, 6:30pm-9pm. Closed Mon.
CANCHITA Goes Vegetarian
Culinary power couple Chefs Tamara Chavez and Daniel Chavez are back with an all-vegetarian menu, brimming with superfoods packaged in super delicious dishes. Look forward to the signature Peruvian flavours coming through in dishes such as the smokey and spicy Roasted Cauliflower Taco ($24++), a veggie-filled take on the Jalea Primavera ($30++), and, of course, a Vegetarian Ceviche Power ($25++), made with hearts of palm and sparking tiger’s milk.
CANCHITA is located at 9A/9B Dempsey Road, Singapore 247698, p. +65 8028 1994. Open Mon-Wed 5.30pm-10.30pm, Thu-Sun 11.30am-3pm, 5.30pm-10.30pm.
Fall into Northern Italy
Enter the fall season with Chef De Cuisine Matteo Ponti’s seasonal menu that celebrates the land, people and culture of his home region in Northern Italy. Start your journey with a Beetroot Cone, stuffed full of Delica Pumpkin with warming spices like cardamom, ginger and nutmeg. Head on to enjoy the Trota, featuring Northen Italy’s iconic trout poached in fig leaf oil before ending your journey with Tukelin de Grana, a frozen parfait elevated by aged balsamico.
Braci is located at 2 Boat Quay, #05-01/ #06-01, Singapore 049841, +65 6866 1933. Open Mon 6pm-11pm, Tue-Sat 12pm-1.30pm, 6pm-11pm. Closed Sun.
