If you’re a book-lover or budding artist, Bras Basah Complex is a definite must visit. With it’s sprawling five storeys of bookstores selling everything from Shakespeare to past year exam papers, and indie shops filled with knick-knacks, Bras Basah Complex will prove to be a labyrtinth at first; but once you’ve manoeuvred it all, you’ll be pleased to have discovered a kingdom of books.

Most bookstores here tend to sell a mish-mash of first and second hand books, so plenty of time is usually required if you intend to scour shelves high and low for the best of bargains. One of our favourite bookstores within the complex has to be Basheer Graphic Books, which specialises in design books and magazines focusing on everything from interior design and photography to animation and typography. And don’t forget to check out their sale items either – we’ve gotten hold of top-notch photography books for a mere fraction of their regular price!
