About Chris Donnellan

A known expert in South East Asian cuisine, Donnellan’s passion for Asian food began during his travels in Vietnam and Thailand, admiring the flavours, complexity, colours, textures and balance required. It was unlike anything he had seen, and it inspired him to hone his culinary skills in Asian cuisine.

Donnellan’s year-long stint at Ezard in Melbourne saw him rising quickly through the ranks, picking up the skills required of one in such a prestigious kitchen. He went on to open Gingerboy with Teage Ezard in 2006, where he helmed the kitchen as Head Chef. Subsequently, the pair released the well-acclaimed Gingerboy cookbook in 2012. Donnellan currently resides in Vietnam as a food consultant.
