New CS Fresh Gold at Paragon: 10 Gourmet Specials from Fresh Seafood to Artisanal Cheese

Cold Storage already has a solid reputation as a gourmet grocery haven, and it’s set to get even cooler. The latest CS Fresh outlet to redefine our supermarket experience is its new flagship at Paragon, dubbed CS Fresh Gold.

Stylishly decked in all-black, CS Fresh Gold at Paragon has the goods to fulfil our wildest foodie dreams. The sprawling space is home to Singapore’s largest organic produce range, not to mention a fresh seafood section with live lobsters and oysters, and a fresh sushi and salad bar. Fromage fans can dive into a hundred-strong artisanal cheese selection while meat lovers can sink their teeth into dry-aged beef from Ryan’s Grocery and ready-to-eat roasts from Crystal Jade.

Freshly launched on 25 August, CS Fresh Gold is running a two-week slew of opening deals till 8 September 2021. To get your gourmet spree started, we’ve put together our pick of the finest produce and promos to snag. From fresh salmon to Ferrarini ham, consider this your shopping list.

Handpicked Hyogo Oysters

Shuck and slurp your way across the world at CS Fresh’s flagship – you’ll find oysters from Ireland and Japan here, along with seasonal Pacific and French varietals. The star of the show, though, are the Hyogo Oysters. Handpicked from the seafood-rich Japanese prefecture, they are smooth and creamy to the point of milky. These plump gems are best enjoyed raw with a zesty spritz of ponzu, and at the celebratory price of S$19.90 (usually S$22.80) for half a dozen oysters. From 2 to 5 September, UOB Cardmembers can enjoy a whole dozen for S$29.80.

Ferrarini Parmigiano Reggiano

CS Fresh Gold’s cheese section is basically a vision of heaven for fromage lovers. Featuring a hundred international cheeses and 50 delicatessens, the store boasts Singapore’s largest range of international cheeses. With the likes of bestsellers like Spanish Manchego with truffles, Rivoire Comté, and Montsalvy French brie on display, choosing your cheese is a tough call – luckily, there’re specially trained cheese and deli specialists on hand to help you.

For a sure palate-pleaser, though, opt for the Ferrarini Parmigiano Reggiano 30 Months (S$6.80 per 100g, usual price S$8.50). From the renowned Ferrarini’s farms in Emilia-Romagna comes this PDO cheese, crafted with two types of cow’s milk: classic Frisona and creamy Jersey. It’s then aged for 30 months to rich, sharp fruitiness.

Juicy, Jumbo African Blueberries

Blueberries are on the tip of everyone’s tongue these days, and it’s not hard to see why. This antioxidant-rich superfood is known to lower blood pressure and ward off heart disease – plus it’s delicious too. Get your dose of immune-boosting goodness with CS Fresh Gold’s African Blue Jumbo Blueberries at S$6.95 per 200g tube (usually S$9.95). Handpicked by Zimbabwe farmers, these sweet berries pack a juicy crunch. What’s more, the CS Fresh crew hand-checks all produce before stocking the shelves, so you can be sure of quality in every mouthful. Heads-up to UOB Cardmembers: from 2 to 5 September, you can enjoy a special promo of three tubs for S$15.85!

Fresh Tasmanian Salmon

CS Fresh has partnered with Huon Aquaculture, a Tasmanian salmon giant renowned for its ethical and sustainable practices, to bring us the Tasmanian Salmon fillet (S$2.50 per 100g, usually S$3.79). Huon rears its salmon in low-stress and pristine environments, designed to mirror the natural life of salmon in the wild. Kept clean and healthy in some of the most spacious pens in the world, the salmon are specially harvested at night – a lower-stress time for fish – to yield their trademark firm flesh and longer shelf-life. With its mild and succulent flesh, this fillet is fabulous for pan-frying, steaming, and baking.

Cheese & Charcuterie Boards

Planning a stylish soirée or candlelit date night in? CS Fresh Gold has your grazing needs covered with a curated cheese and charcuterie board, dubbed The Grazing Gourmet (S$24++). Take your pick of three types of cheese and three types of meats, served alongside breadsticks, dried fruits and olives, as well as specialty condiments. While you’re at it, we recommend completing your feast with a bottle from the supermarket’s impressive stash of organic and sustainable wines. CS Fresh carries a range of exclusive brands, including award-winning Australian label Tamburlaine, Lanson Organic Champagne, and Portuguese pioneer Altano.

Angus Rib-Eye Steak

CS Fresh Gold’s drool-inducing selection of beef is a siren call for all carnivores, from well-marbled Okan Wagyu from Japan to Australian Angus to exclusive dry-aged cuts from local partner Ryan’s Grocery. For a classic prime cut that’s big on flavour, our vote goes to their grass-fed Ryan’s Five Beef Rib-eye (S$11.30 per 100g). Prized for its luscious marbling and bold beefy flavours, this prime cut simply needs a sprinkle of salt and a quick sear to reach juicy perfection.

Ready-to-Eat Roasts from Crystal Jade

Too time-strapped to cook your meats from scratch? CS Fresh Gold is making gourmet meals at home fuss-free, thanks to an exclusive partnership with household name Crystal Jade. You’ll spot a Kitchen On The Go! counter brimming with golden-brown roasts freshly sizzled up by this Michelin Bib Gourmand brand – and at significantly lower prices than you’d find at their restaurants. Among the succulent signatures you can pick up here are the crowd-favourite Peking Duck and the Crispy Roasted Pork Belly. During this promo period, you can purchase a Roasted Whole Soya Chicken (S$22.80) to enjoy a complimentary Crystal Jade carrot cake or yam cake.

Plant-Based Dim Sum

Whether you’re vegan or flexitarian, CS Fresh is making green eating easy with a sprawling aisle of plant-based products. And time-strapped folks should definitely look to Arlene’s pioneering range of ready meals. Arlene is transforming our dimsum favourites into planet-friendly delicacies – the Arlene Frozen Plant-Based Siew Mai packs a crunch with shiitake mushrooms and water chestnuts, while the Crystal Vegetable Dumpling is rich with spices (S$6.90 for two packs, usually S$9.80).

Sweet Australian Broccolini

You’ve probably noticed broccolini popping up on your plate at many a trendy restaurant. This hybrid of broccoli and kai lan is sweeter, more tender, and completely edible from stalk to tip. Get your dose of greens the delicious way with the Perfection Fresh Australia Broccolini (S$4 per bunch, usually S$5) at CS Fresh Gold. With its peppery edge, it’s tasty when sautéed with garlic or oven-roasted till crisp – ten minutes is all it takes.

Extra Large Tiger Prawns

Swimming with gems like king prawns and live lobsters, CS Fresh’s crustacean range is nothing short of top-notch. For a seafood dinner with the fam, one sure crowd-pleaser is their superb Frozen Thawed Tiger Prawns (S$1.89 per 100g, usual price S$2.59). These extra large prawns are seriously meaty, with subtly sweet flesh and plenty of firm bite. Stuff them with minced garlic and steam, grill them with chili, or have yourself a hearty hotpot – the possibilities are endless.

The launch of CS Fresh Gold is part of the Cold Storage brand’s S$40-million transformation, which is set to refresh all Cold Storage stores by end-2022. The rebrand follows a comprehensive DFI Retail Group Singapore study on customers’ preferences and expectations from a fresh food store, in order to satisfy their needs and gourmet interests.
