Eats Payao

Helmed by husband and wife duo Gavin Koh and Phoungkhae, this Northern Thai restaurant resides in a four-storey townhouse that pays homages to its roots with a vibrant Lanna-inspired interior. On top of authentic eats like the deliciously creamy Khao Soi (90THB) and flavour-packed Gaeng Hang Lay (180THB, pork belly curry), Eats Payao also dishes out Singaporean specialities including Singapore Chilli or Pepper Crab (1500THB) and Bak Kut Teh (250THB). Appropriately peppery, the latter is served alongside fluffy dough fritters and fragrant jasmine rice.

Boon Tong Kee

Ardent fans of Singapore’s famed Boon Tong Kee will already know that they don’t have to jet off to Singapore to get a taste of their Hainanese Chicken Rice, as this stalwart has multiple outlets peppered across the city. Chow down their Signature Boiled Chicken (from 95THB) paired with fragrant Chicken Rice (30THB) and garlic and chilli dipping sauces – and feel like you’re almost transported to Singapore. Almost.

Boon Tong Kiat Singapore Chicken Rice

Although similar in name to Boon Tong Kee, Boon Tong Kiat has its own share of delicious offerings to offer foodies in Bangkok. Originally founded by a Singaporean, this stalwart in Thonglor is now run by a Thai family who whips up a slew of Singapore local favourites that are no less mouth-watering. Think Char Siew (69 THB), Singapore Fried Carrot Cake (115 THB) and of course Hainanese Chicken Rice (65 THB) complete with fragrant rice and tender poached chicken.

JUMBO Seafood

Another popular Singapore-based restaurant brand that has taken up residence in Bangkok is JUMBO Seafood. This supersized seafood paradise overlooking the stunning Chao Phraya River is particularly well-known for their award-winning Chilli Crab (1760THB, 800g) made of lightly stir-fried crabs doused in their signature sweet and spicy chilli sauce imported from Singapore. JUMBO also whips up other crowd-favourites like the Golden Salted Egg Fish Skin (228THB) and Dragonfruit Lobster Salad with Lumpfish Caviar (448THB) that are bound to sate your seafood cravings.

The first of its kind in Bangkok, BABATHAI is an automated 24-hour restaurant – everything from ordering to paying is done through a self-ordering kiosk – offering local cuisine to Singaporean delicacies. Expect Singaporean plates such as Nasi Lemak (from 99THB), Char Kuay Teow (250 THB), and Roti Prata with Chicken Curry (from 220THB). For something sweet to round it up, sink your teeth into pillowy Coconut Buns or cool down with an icy bowl of Singapore Cendol (120THB).

Head to Uncle Pang’s Samabalcha Cafe to dig into some of Bangkok’s authentic Malay-Singaporean staples – featuring tweaked recipes passed down by the mother of the chef. Start off with My Mother’s Nasi Lemak (129 THB) – Uncle Pang’s healthier rendition of the iconic dish includes oil-free air-fried chicken. Loaded with fresh seafood and chicken, another must-try is their creamy and rich Laksa (1797 THB). For a lighter bite, opt for the Nyonya Poh Piah (200 THB), filled with a medley of tasty ingredients.
